I’ve been a 12c user for a long time. It’s the best financial calculator there is and this is the absolute best one, just updated too. The functionality is perfect, it has the option of having a visual stack on the screen, and the record tape feature lets you check your work not having to redo the calculations. If I left something blank and hit that button, then it would calculate whatever the information I requested. I.e. interest rate, Payment, years, etc. Now it does not calculate that for me anymore. I’ve had an HP 12C since they first came out. When I bought an iPhone and an iPad, I wanted an emulator that worked at least as well as the physical calculator. My former employer also had a 12C emulator on the App Store, but it was out classed by 12Calc. First off, it looks great, unlike some other emulators. You can even choose different templates. However, what matters to me is how it works. All the 12C functions are there, but there are a bunch of great additions. There are various worksheets for more complicated efforts if you want to track them on the screen. Included are useful conversion tools, so you won’t need a separate conversion app. You can review the memory and even print it out or export to a file. Copy and paste is supported. There are just too many features to write about here, but they are all covered by the terrific context-sensitive help. You press the help button, including the “F” and “G” shift functions, and you get an explanation of how the function works and some examples. The developer also has some terrific TI based emulators, especially the TI83/84 and TI-BA emulators. However, if you need the best 12C emulator out there, get 12Calc. There’s even a bundle offered where you can get 12C and TI-BA emulators for one price. There is no substitute unless you are using a real 12C, but then 12Calc has all the speed of your iPhone. The latest version, however, is problematic as the font is now white instead of black. Depending on your situation it can be very hard to see. I wish I did not upgrade so I could have kept the previous color scheme of black numbers on a lighter background. Update: Years later this app has been maintained and still works wonderfully. Then (I believe) HP asked Ernie to make some changes. I was extremely worried when I updated my first iPhone, because I thought I would lose this App. But it kept on working. Finally with my iPhone 7, I finally broke down to repurchase the newer (and improved) version. If you are a fan of HP-12C calculator, then you will likely find this App very intuitive, and I won’t go into describing all the ways it can be used. But some of the novel features include: * Currency converter, and current currency values can be updated whenever you want. *. A “tape” feature, so that you can see what an adding machine tape would show if it were part of the HP-12C calculator. And although I don’t use it for much more than a basic calculator with financial and real estate (loan, mortgage, PV, etc) calculations as I did for years with my regular HP-12C, I can honestly say that I use this App ALL THE TIME, especially during tax season! Finally, over the years I have had 2-3 emails with Mr Brock, who has always been prompt, honest, and provided me with valuable tips and help. Just what you want with a developer. So, stop reading, and go buy the App! You will find it very worthwhile1 2020 is here and my earlier review still stands. Great App. Great support.
