## 1828 Description
Look up word definitions from Noah Webster's 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language.

August 30, 2018
1828 now has the option to purchase an updated dictionary with cross-reference links. There are three in-app purchase options, all of which include the updated dictionary which fixes some incomplete definitions and other issues.

1. Dictionary Cross-Reference. This upgrade provides tappable links to words referred to in some definitions. For example, the definition of Abase has a reference indicating "See Abash". With this upgrade, the referenced word will appear in blue and tapping the word will open the definition for that word.

2. Bible Cross-Reference. This upgrade provides tappable links to Bible references which appear in many definitions. The Bible reference will appear in blue and tapping the reference will open the Bible chapter with the referenced verse highlighted so that it can be read in context.

3. All Cross-Reference. This is a combo upgrade which includes both the Dictionary and Bible cross-reference options.

The in-app purchase is accessed by tapping the gear icon at the top-right of the Word Search view.

## 1828 Reviews in United States

### ****- "Pretty good resource"
I didn’t realize this is not a full version of the 1828 dictionary. It’s a useful tool, but missing some important definitions that are different than contemporary usage, such as the term “criticism” referring to Biblical study.
-- Solarbear16, 2025-09-09

### **--- "Do Not Purchase in app Cross Ref"
DO NOT PURCHASE THE CROSS REFERENCE add ons (in app purchases)!! The download doesn’t work & they refuse to give you a refund!!! They don’t offer any support when it doesn’t work!
-- Dissatisfied XXXX, 2025-07-19

### ***-- "please fix"
cannot increase text size
-- Super Yayhoo, 2025-06-28

### *---- "Not the real deal"
Didn’t even have the word “saviour” and had no Bible references for “victuals”.
-- AV Sound Man, 2024-07-29

### *---- "What’s new for me with this app"
is that it’s non-functional today. No update available. Disappointing.
-- SamiSarahSelah, 2024-07-08

### ****- "Great Resource"
Just purchased this app because l like to go more in-depth with the meaning of words. This app helps me with that. I took one star away because it would be nice if the developers would add a “Favorite” section, where l could add words to that l want to access quickly. Other than that, l am pleased with this purchase.

### ***** "Great App"
I use this constantly with one issue; after purchasing the two additions, to open the Scriptures referenced, I will not do so.
So my question is, is there a certain Scripture App that is required for the cross references to work?
Other than this is is excellent.
-- Thomas HB, 2024-01-19

### ***** "Original"
As our history is being rewritten this seems to be consistent with the paper version of the 1828 Webster Dictionary that we have, including scripture references. Easy to use app. I love it, words mater.
-- TRACS User, 2023-12-09

### **--- "Terrible with the in-app purchase"
I’ve purchased the All Cross-Reference upgrade, but I don’t see Biblical references or dictionary references highlighted. Can you help me, please?
-- Lsrwhealton, 2023-08-28

### ***** "Biblical!"
Thank you guys so much for keeping this based on the Bible and how this country came about and thank you for adding the cross references what a blessing this has been to me thank you again. God bless.
