Love the app but tricky to figure out for the first round or 2 but once you do you’re away!
Great free app. Accurate distances, cool how your mates can see too
If you play regularly and want to know what your *real* distances are, as well as your stats of fairways, greens and putts then go pro asap. Totally does away with the need for a rangefinder or watch as the gps of the phone does it all on a decent size screen. If you add your clubs then it’ll even suggest what club + percentage swing: 7i 96% Best/most useful app of 2018 for me. Wouldn’t golf without it now. Surprisingly good on battery use as well. Only gripe is no native Instagram or Twitter integration, but you can screenshot your drives and load up anyway so no big deal.
Haven’t used many others since I’ve been using for many years. Big fan and have only upgraded since the start. Will actually look at issues you send in and fix them! Keep it up 18Birdies!
This is a fantastic app and has gotten much better with the new autostat feature. One problem I have with it that most players probably don’t realize. TLDR; Make it possible to get back into a round and use the GPS if you accidentally finish the round. Make it easier to change round settings. My local course doesn’t have tee times. As a member, I don’t even have to tell them I’m playing a round, I just hit the range and then go to the tee box. I can also just start on the 10th. So I often don’t even know if I plan on playing 9 or 18. Here’s the problem: If I choose 18 and then later decide I only want to play 9, the app is finicky about changing that. Especially if I started on the 10th hole. So, I started choosing 9 holes at the beginning of every round, since it’s easier to change from 9 to 18, rather than 18 to 9. But now when I finish the 9th, I accidentally click “finish round” and then there is no way to get back into the round. Even if I don’t fully submit the round, I can’t get back and use the gps. I can change it to 18 and then manually type in my scores, but still can’t use the gps. This is my biggest problem.
It’s a great app so far
Previously loved using 18Birdies until the recent update. The new auto swing detection practically makes the app unusable with the Apple Watch. Vibrates unnecessarily during practice swings that continue to vibrate during the actual swing. Searched through the entire app for an option to turn the feature off but no dice. UPDATE: they fixed the auto swing detection and it is back to the app I love!
Tells me everything I need to know about the course.
