Description

Improve your eating habits by using 20 minutes on your meals.
Open the app at mealtime, select an interval and the app will guide you through your meal with small breaks and a natural end point.
By eating in intervals you give your body time to let you know you're full, before you eat too much.
It'll help you eat smaller portions of food and have you be pleasantly full after your meal.

The 20 minute countdown will mark the point where the stomach normally starts to send signals of fullness to your brain - which will be a natural end point to your meal.

20 Minute Eating helps you to eat slower and use 20 minutes on your meals through
• 4 predefined intervals of eating & pausing that continue for 20 minutes
• Sounds & vibrations to let you know an interval has ended
• Simple design
Additional features include:
• Next-Meal Reminder: Remind yourself when you can have your next meal
• No Screensaver: The app stays active during the 20 minutes
• Costumize Intervals: Costumize the duration of the two intervals from 10 seconds to 5 minutes.
• Meal Log: Log your meals & identify patterns in your eating habits

User reviews:
"Really helps access your "full" trigger!"
"I eat my meals like someone is trying to take it away from me. I started off on the difficult setting and I find it is great. I can commit to the 2 minutes of rest and my food lasts for 20 minutes instead of 2!"
"Great app to help you get started on a healthier path. Many different options to choose from, meal reminders, & great cues in app. Totally recommend it."

20 Minute Eating Reviews

Great idea, poor functionality

Terrible app all it is is a timer and it does not work properly and freezes frequently

I’ve been using the app for a couple of weeks 3xday. I find it very helpful in slowing my meals down. I’ve even lost a pound or so just because I’m eating less as a result. One thing that I find may need some work is to keep timer running regardless of what’s happening. A cal or a text which I don’t answer while I’m eating anyway seems to mess the interface. The timer circle disappears and your not sure what’s going on. Ability to change colors of interface would be nice but not an issue: I suppose I’ll have to turn my airplane mode on while using the app during those precious 20 minutes.

Not worth $2

Very basic app, you can make better timers with exercise apps. No signal to tell you to switch from eating to break so you have to stare at your phone- not a great practice for mindful eating! There’s also no way to log the duration of your meals so you can see improvements. Better off with another app

Love this app

Of all the slow eating apps this is my favorite. I love the ability to have pauses in between eating intervals to help you with eating less during the 20 minutes. I agree with the other reviewers and wish the timer would keep running while the app is in the background.

Worthless

There is no sound indicating when to stop eating and when to restart. App stops when you leave the app so the count stays the same. Waste of money.

Wonderful tool

It has made a total difference in my habits and I love it. Highly recommended!

There's a glitch

meyoboto on

United States

There is a bothersome glitch when you start a cycle. If you switch from this app to something else (home screen,FB, texts, etc), when you come back to this app the timer glitches out so you won't be able to continue or finish with the cycle. Do NOT buy this app as it has been a year since they've been notified of this and still no fix.

Great app

This is the best app I've found for helping you to eat slowly.

Not bad but...

Needs the ability to work properly properly when switched to the background. I start the app and eat for the first cycle like it says. When the time is up, I stop eating and switch to another app. When I return the timer is out of sync.

Nice app!

I just wish it would let you edit the meal alerts. Also, it would be nice to have a suggestion of how many bites to take per interval and how long to chew. But overall it does motivate me to eat slower!
