A Better Routeplanner (ABRP) Reviews

Good if it was still 2012

uthorr on

The app is a clunky port of their website. It constantly logs out after only 2 days, occasionally won’t let you type in addresses, uses the weirdest database for places, and is generally not great to use. The “open in x map application” feature is great, but otherwise the free version gives me little faith that the paid version is worth it.

Must have app

Patlo99 on

This is a must have app for all EV owners. Super awesome.

Release 5 is a disaster

Bluezzer on

Canada

It now ends up in an endless look to a screen saying “ooops, try again”. Quitting or reinstalling the app has no effect. One time I was able to cancel it on my phone and it stopped doing that until I tried loading a second route. I logged in through a friend’s phone still on release 4.6.5 and there is nothing wrong with the 2 routes. Since I can no longer use the app I have canceled my subscription and won’t turn it back on until I here from others that it’s fixed. We seriously need some competition in this space! Even a small player that understands the concept of test suites regression testing would be a godsend!!

What’s the point?

Cndn54 on

What’s the point in using a navigation app that is so laggy you sometimes miss your turn because the app tells you (incorrectly) that you haven’t reached it yet? What’s the point in allowing you to set your pre-departure state of charge when the app defaults to the previous state of charge as soon as you click the button to plan a route? I had heard some good things about this app so I thought I’d try it out on a road trip. Sorry - I don’t get it. There are too many bugs and the UI is confusing as heck.

Great app not sure this gets so many bad reviews

Most people download this app thinking it’s a Google /Apple map replacement??

Useful app

Helps with long road trips and multi stop planning for estimating battery usage. When linked with live data for Tesla, it prevents the car from sleeping and increases vampire drain. Lost 5% overnight and I don’t have a home charger.

Service is great, interface makes it unusable

JustynStef on

“Quirky” would be too kind a word. The service is great and accurate down to the % and kilometre, but because of the interface, it isn’t accessible. If you try to open and view something, it has to replan, which can take up to 90 seconds depending on the length of your trip - I get that… But it isn’t safe to interact with at all when on the move, I’ve had to pull over to try to things. You can’t share the next stop with the car, only the whole trip can be shared to Apple or Google maps. It used to auto send your next stop to the car, I can’t even do it manually now. I do a lot of road trips, and I’ll more than happily subscribe again, as a regular user, you’ll hate the interface; as a UI/UX designer, you’ll want to gouge your eyes and throw your phone out the window. So many inconsistencies, no way back (don’t hide your directions, you can’t get them back without restarting the app and replanning again…) The list goes on. Feel free to reach out for a design audit and some new layouts from a real would user and designer!

One year later, Horrible UX

aintgotanick on

One year ago I made a long trip and the experience was relatively good albeit not without quirks. This year I attempted a similar trip and you completely destroyed the UX. On each leg, you need to reset the route because there’s no way to indicate that you have done charging. The app is very unstable and has crashed at least 3 times during the trip. Also, even though my car was known to the app, it included Tesla chargers along the route. Fortunately there was a ChargePoint nearby on the firs leg and I didn’t need a tow truck. I had to manually edit and exclude Tesla chargers. I really regret having renewed the subscription just now. But if these issues aren’t solved soon, I will cancel it for sure and plan my own trips manually, or find something better.

This app is clunky and just terrible to use

Over hyped

JC GIS BC on

I saw so many YouTubers praising this app. I found it clunky and buggy. It allows you to set your trip departure time and charge which is great. But this feature only works some of the time. Also it sometimes skips over Tesla superchargers that are en route and instead advises you to travel to the interstate instead. It sometimes takes a long time to respond and will time out claiming I have no internet connection. I tried submitting feedback but it refused to acknowledge my account password despite the fact I successfully logged into the app with the same password minutes earlier.
