Well Done A Better Route Planner

We just did a 4,100 mile round trip from Oregon to Illinois and used ABRP to plan the trip. It worked flawlessly. When we ended up at a charger that was out of commission, it got us to another one with plenty of charge. ABRP makes driving an electric car on a long trip easy to accomplish.

The app worked just fine, after recent update I have to make an account with them to continue to use basic functions. Haven’t you collected enough of my personal information?

Not user friendly

Not user friendly. App compatibility, and premium features are not listed. List of compatible ODB2 divices not listed. Maps are outdated.

Does not work on Apple Watch

I have a premium subscription, but the watch app is stuck at “Open your ABRP app on your iPhone to setup.” No, there is no place in the ABRP to setup.

Crashing bug since v5.0.4 and v5.0.5

Whenever I want to restart a drive plan or remove a stop, the app crashes. Next time I open it, it stuck at launch screen saying something went wrong. First seen on 5.0.4 and still not fixed on 5.0.5. No way to provide feedback so I have to give a review

Didn’t work the way it was promised

I wanted to try ABRP because it said it would connect with my ODB 2 and give me feedback on route planning in my EV. However the app couldn’t find the dongle and connect- even though I have the dongle they recommended. Second, I upgraded so that I could get traffic information for route planning, and that didn’t work either. I knew there was an accident, both apple and google showed the traffic issues, but ABRP didn’t see them at all. Without those two features, the app is worthless to me and I don’t have the patience to spend a bunch of time debugging.

Slow and unreliable

Slow to the point it’s unusable as a navigation device. The User Interface is also incredibly confusing.

Do Not Trust Tuis App!

Wazzu4ever on

United States

I entered a route and it said the total one-way distance was 187 miles. I checked two other map applications and the exact same route (same highways, etc) and both of them said 222 miles. 35 miles difference - 70 miles on the round trip! Underestimating by nearly 20% is a significant error. Especially in areas where chargers aren’t readily available. I cannot trust this app enough to ever use it again.

Wondering why it is showing the speed limit as KPH rather than MPH when I have set my measurements to imperial and the speed that I am driving is in MPH. I assume this is a temporary glitch. Please fix it as it is driving me crazy. On the whole though, the route planning is worth the subscription in my opinion!

Better than people are suggesting

Kabbajpatch on

I’ve been using this app for over a year and it’s gotten me through some pretty rough patches of the country in my ID4. It leans on the conservative side, but with the premium function and the fact it connect to my car using its cellular connectivity, makes it an incredibly valuable method to plan long extensive family road trips. Ever since Rivian purchased this app, it’s been only getting better.
