I’m a student I’ve been doing Acellus 4 years now and I love it and the extra classes you can enroll in that can get you ahead

Some complaints

Alexis Amber123 on

As a 14 year old who was withdrawn from school halfway through the year, I’m thankful Acellus was an option. However, I had to restart the year from scratch in half the time. And with that, I had no option to skip videos I understand already, so I spent 8~30 minutes on videos I already understood. With that, perhaps add a skip button to videos. After all, if you already understand the concept, and need to get to the questions, having to watch long videos is not helpful. I myself am a bit of a fast paced learner, and waiting for the videos was not helpful.

Does everything in its power to slow you down and make you pay as much as possible while both teaching things not relevant to the course and not teaching crafts in topics. Citizens high school is better

My little brother (grade 8) and I (grade 10) both use this app since both public and private schools were incompetent at teaching us. (Both of us are neurodivergent, we both have ADHD and autism and i have a few other disabilities, which makes learning in schools that arent special needs very difficult. Especially since neurotypical teachers (aka most of them) often refused to help us.) We used this app and loved it at first, videos were helpful, english was especially enjoyable. But then comes the vectored instructions, especially with math. The vectored instructions, feel like they were originally meant for preschoolers, but the subjects were changed into something older students would learn. From obnoxious high pitched voices, to horrible graphs that sometimes had colors so bright and with such high contrast it hurt to even look at. (I had to get a friend to do one for me because the strain on my eyes was so bad it gave me migraines.) Generally, most of the vectored instructions felt like demeaning, while they were likely just meant to be entertaining, these are videos highschoolers and college students are gonna be watching. Most people in that age range dont wanna watch a video that looks like it was meant for an audience learning how to count by their 2's. Especially since vectored instructions only appear if you've struggled heavily with something, it'll just feel like theyre being mocked. Not to mention the bugs, with the worst offender bejng a video that causes 2-5 seconds of a video to loop constantly, with the only way to fix it being to pause the video, but it happens so much you're basically clicking the pause button every 20 seconds. A 5 minute video took almost 45 minutes because of this.

Good but needs some work.

I absolute love being able to do school from home since I’m very anxious. However, there are some issues. 1.So far, whenever I do a course in math, the textbook doesn’t go through all of what the video shows. I understand that I have to pay attention to the videos, but it doesn’t hurt to need a little extra help if I’ve forgotten something or need to review it. And don’t get me started on the lack of examples. 2. Whenever one of the “teachers” messages me, it just feels like it was sent by a bot and not an actual person. And if I try to ask something, I don’t get a response. 3. This is more of a personal complaint, but I think it would be better the control the amount of steps I want to do per week from MY account and not through the parent one. 4. Sometimes, the lessons(especially anything math related) is boring and makes it hard to focus on it.

Glitchy
