While the app is easy to use and great for people who are new to investing or who don't want to think about it much, I've found that Acorns' customer support has gotten consistently worse over the years and is now very poor, much below what I find to be standard in the financial industry. As such, it is difficult for me to recommend this app to anyone any more, especially given how many good alternatives there are out there. Fairly common tasks like rolling over an account into your Acorns Later IRA require reaching out to customer support. It's very clearly outsourced and heavily scripted, and getting someone to actually take the time to understand what you're asking for is a recurring problem. You will also frequently be asked to provide information that you've already provided in the same email thread; it's as if your messages aren't actually being read. They will then promise to address your concerns within some number of business days, and then never actually follow through, forcing you to email again - and start the whole process over again, and it can take many weeks to resolve simple issues. Heck, when my Acorns debit card expired, they just let it expire. My one complaint/change I wish you’d make? If I reduce an allocation percentage in my custom portfolio, I don’t get a check from Acorns (that’s good). But if I reduce my position to 0%, I have to wait for a check/e-deposit from Acorns to reinvest those funds into another stock. Not the best process.
