## AI Hear Description
AI Hear is a private, local-first transcription workspace for macOS. Turn microphone and system audio into live captions, transcribe audio and video files, and capture dictation from anywhere.

LIVE CAPTIONS

• Capture microphone and system audio at the same time, with independent gain controls.
• Limit system audio capture to an app, window, or display.
• Translate captions with the built-in local model, Apple on-device translation when available, or an OpenAI-compatible provider you configure.

DICTATION

• Start dictation from anywhere with a global shortcut.
• Copy the recognized text to the clipboard, ready to paste into another app.
• Optionally polish or translate the text before it is copied.

FILES AND LIBRARY

• Drop common audio or video files in for offline transcription.
• Keep every live-caption session, dictation, and file transcription in a local library.
• Search transcripts, jump to a sentence, loop a sentence or range, change playback speed, and export TXT, VTT, or SRT.

LOCAL SPEECH AND AI

• Choose from Whisper, SenseVoice, Qwen3-ASR, and Parakeet speech models supported by your Mac.
• Run summaries, key points, action items, meeting minutes, and follow-up questions.
• Use the built-in local model without an API key, or connect your own OpenAI-compatible provider.

PRIVACY

Audio and speech recognition stay on your Mac. Recordings and transcripts are stored locally. Transcript text leaves your device only when you choose a cloud AI provider and use it. There are no accounts or usage analytics, and optional crash reporting is off by default.

AI Hear includes a free daily live-caption allowance. Unlimited use is available through a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
