Asking you to deep clean a 5 bed house for £50?! DO NOT USE" The tasker threatened and scammed me and my tenants into paying for work he didn’t do! He has to replace bulbs, stick wall paper back on, and mount something on a wall. He did none of them to any success, was 30 minutes late arriving, stayed 15 minutes and physically threatened my tenants and threatened me with an audit if we didn’t pay £34 (more then £2 a minute he was there) When I reported this to Airtasker they refused to do anything to stop the man or even just process a refund. Unbelievably unsafe and I have reported the incident to the police. However, I have redownloaded it since being back in the UK but it wont let me change my location to the UK so I can not use it. -- Ghabpecat, 2024-11-02 ### **--- "Be Careful - you get locked into a rate without a proper assessment" Be careful using Airtasker. I have used several of these apps like Task Rabbit and Rated People. All of these apps have there issues and Airtasker on paper should solve some of them. So I was surprised to find similar shady and bad actors on this app. My main issues are: 1. The people responding to your job are attracted by the bid price. If you put a higher price than a job normally or actually requires, you will get tons of bids and if you accept, you are locked in at that price. Do not use this app as a price discovery and assessment tool. The contractors know they can lock you in to a higher price than a job is worth. 2. The person doing the job is looking for a quick release of the funds held with Airtasker and to extract a good review from you. If you later find that there was an issue with the job, you no longer have the leverage of being able to update your review. The bad contractors know this. 3. There are shady contractors on this app. I had a guy come for a job, and before he used an extra strip of silicon and had the audacity to ask for more money (12%) of the agreed amount (for a bit of silicon). The original and agreed price was already generous for the type of job. Overall, I do not recommend Airtasker and if you do choose to use it, be careful.
