## Alaska Mobile ID Description
This app is for Alaska residents to obtain and use their Alaska Mobile ID. As with your physical driver license, please confirm anyone requesting to verify your Alaska Mobile ID before providing your consent.
Alaska Mobile ID by Thales is an official app-based version of your Alaska driver license or ID card, and a secure, convenient and contactless way to digitally provide your proof of identity or age using your smartphone or other supported smart device. Use your Alaska Mobile ID with businesses and/or law enforcement who accept mobile driver licenses.

Once you download this app, you will need to activate your Alaska Mobile ID with the Alaska DMV before use – instructions are in the app and easy to follow. After activating, you can launch Alaska Mobile ID on your smart device, select the type of verification needed, and present the screen for scanning by a participating business or law enforcement. Your smart device does not leave your hand when being verified, making Alaska Mobile ID a contact-free and convenient way to display proof of identity or age.

Although Alaska Mobile ID by Thales is an official credential offered by the Alaska DMV, it does not replace your Alaska driver license or ID card. Alaska law requires carrying the physical driver license when operating a motor vehicle.

Leave it to Alaska, a state whose population have frequent travel needs to release a mobile id that utilizes a terrible user interface that takes nearly a minute to load any documents under optimal conditions with no foreseeable option to integrate with tried and true services such as Apple or google wallet. How can a state release a mobile ID worse than all the other states that have one rolled out? Save your time and wait for integration of passports with Apple ID and don’t waste your time with Alaska’s mobile ID until it is on par with any other state.

Camera doesn’t work to enter/scan ID(Barcode Scan Failed). My DL is in good condition and the lighting is good but it will not focus. My guess is this is a bug with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

This app is inefficient just like the government. Who would have guessed that! I went through the process of setting it up 3 times and it says it’s approved then goes to the next page and says all credentials have been erased to start over. I would not recommend!

### ***-- "Why Not Apple Wallet?"
Former cop here. The app works—though I had to manually enter my information to authenticate during set up—but what’s the point if we still need our physical license on our person while driving and why use this company? Since 2022, nine states and one territory have fully integrated with Apple’s program allowing citizens to add their government-issued ID to Wallet, and several more states are reportedly working toward integration. SOA, stop taking the lazy route by going with a janky third-party program. We’re 1/4 through the 21st-century for crying out loud, so get with the times by integrating with Apple and passing a law so that we no longer need to carry a physical driver’s license. Lest we end up one of the last states to opt in, sometime in the 30s, 40s, or beyond.

This thing says it can’t verify my information with the DMV. Dont waste your time, who knows what they are really doing with the info entered. My info with the DMV has not changed in 10 + years. Plus keep in mind you still need to carry your hard card with you, so whats the point?

Really helpful app. Girlfriend had her purse stolen a few weeks ago, and we’ve been struggling getting her a replacement. This has helped in the meantime. Would be nice to add hunting and fishing licenses here as well.

Honestly I expected more. This app seems pointless when the drivers license functionality is already baked into the iOS operating system.  The ability to add the ID to the Apple Wallet would greatly improve the usefulness of the app. Otherwise there is minimal convenience to using the mobile ID since you have to open up a separate program, that takes the same amount of time to pull out as your physical ID, which you are still required to carry. The scan ID functionality works poorly when trying to add license.
