Description

The Alert SA App is an official Mobile Application of the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM) and provides users with timely, relevant bushfire information in South Australia. The App displays bushfire warnings and alerts, Fire Danger Ratings and Total Fire Bans, with users able to create up to 10 Watch Zones, specifying areas of interest to them. Users are encouraged not to rely on one source of information during bushfires, and to access other channels such as www.cfs.sa.gov.au, CFS Facebook and Twitter, a battery powered radio and the Bushfire Information Hotline: 1800 362 361 (TTY 133 677).

Watch the water bombers fly overhead instead

Incidents at Oakbank and Heathfield in the past week. No notifications. More reliable watching the water bombers fly overhead!

Not opening on iPhone 6 with os 12.5.7

Not opening on iPhone 6 with os 12.5.7 so not much use to me at the minute.

Rubbish

Since the update, the app no longer even opens, let alone works. At the start of fire season, this is seriously bad timing.

App not working

Fire 2 paddocks away from us today and no alerts were received via this app - this app seriously needs looking into.

Used to be good

The old version years ago would alert you of incidents in your area but not anymore. There was major crash yesterday and no alert after hour of incident and we’re driving our usual route towards it.

Doesn’t send push notifications

Consistently NOT getting notifications of incidents in my alert area. If you’ve going to have an app that is supposed to be in the interest of public safety, at least make it perform its most basic intended function!

Unreliable

The key design criterion for an emergency alert app is reliability- and this app fails to deliver. While working well on my iPhone for a year or so, alerts just stopped happening. Tried deleting and re-adding watch zones but with no success. Solution was to delete app and reinstall.

One big flaw

I love this app, being able to quickly see where everything is happening is amazing. But, I discovered today that even though a fire was within my watch zone I didn’t get an alert/notification at all. The app is called Alert SA yet can’t send me an alert??

Terrible app - puts lives at risk

Please please please look at the VicEmergency app - purchase it from Vic if needs be and apply to SA. I live in SA but work for Victoria and the Victorian alerts are so much more helpful. Do it before lives are lost!

No notifications

Last season I relied on Alert SA and it seemed to work perfectly. This year, I had no idea of a bushfire occurring 8 km away, no notifications, despite all the settings being correct.
