Works with Revolut Visa
Works with a Revolut Visa card. One needs to insist to get what one needs. Not everything is translated, although there is a tool to help with this, otherwise, need to do screenshots or use another phone to translate. The network is often busy, some pages work with a vpn, others don’t , but for the most part the app needs a Chinese IP. However, once the card is added, payments work. Some payments will have an Alipay fee, others will have a ‘payment method discount’. Revolut will also apply a fee for every transaction. The registration process needs to be finished to access all the functions, like official Chinese bank statement that can be used legally. Finishing the registration process means to add real person data, scan passport data and add face photo. This was very easy, using NFC and a selfie. The bank statement is sent by email in few minutes and can be used to request a refund on Booking.com, for example. With all this easy technology and modernness, I still prefer good old stinky cash :) So I can only recommend one to go to Bank of China and exchange foreign currency, to have another memorable experience :)
