Then this is the app for you. This app fills a gap in the region and is the only app available for Ecuador! It is based on renowned reference work of the Helm Guide Series "Birds of Northern South America" by Robin Restall, Clemencia Rodner, and Miguel Lentino. The creation of apps from the book is a co-production between Bloomsbury Plc and Sunbird Images. The app contains 5,000 illustrations and more than 3,000 bird songs and calls in total. >> Neotropical Birding Magazine writes: *** "Condensing Restall’s two-volume work into an app, while remaining usable, is no mean feat - and Sunbird Images deserve recognition
for successfully doing so. Navigation is admirably straightforward." *** *** "Two nice touches are displaying the sonogram in ‘real time’ with the vocalisation, and a ‘loop’ facility to make playback more manageable." *** *** "The app is self-evidently the equal of Restall et al. as an identification tool, and a smartphone is so much more portable than a field guide. Moreover, the in-built vocalisations are arguably worth the purchase price alone..." *** This app is part of the Sunbird Images BLUE LABEL series. Our BLUE LABEL series are top notch digital field guides which provide the most comprehensive data available for a region or taxon. They stand for completeness including even the very rare species and vagrants which have only been recorded once or a few times in a region. Even the rare species are illustrated and described in detail featured with a full species account. No other bird app for this region offers the following: - Includes all 1,612 Ecuadorian bird species including all vagrants - Selection of 5,000 illustrations from the reference work "Birds of Northern South America" - All subspecies + geographic, age and sex variations illustrated - 3,158 bird songs and calls - Most advanced Compare Mode of any bird app - compare up to 16 species images / songs / maps - Spectrograms of all songs + details where songs were recorded - Detailed distribution maps of Northern South America down to subspecies level - Introduction contains hints and links on bird watching in Ecuador - Create sighting lists and sort by place, date, group, and name - Automatically plots all birds on a map via GPS (editable) - Make notes for each bird spotted - A simple identification key narrows species down - Sort and display species: A–Z, 6 different languages, taxonomic Ecuador is a prime birding spot and a country of extremes. It covers altitudes between coastal regions up to heights of more than 6,000 m and habitats that include coasts with beaches, Desert Woodland and Arid Scrub, Páramo, Temperate as well as Subtropical Montane Forest (Cloud Forest/ Elfin Woodland), the Amazon Rainforest in particular, Swamps and Mangroves. Ecuador has the largest biodiversity per square kilometre in the world, with an unlimited number of possibilities for birding. Choose between 6 bird name languages: English, Latin, Spanish, French, Dutch, German Narrow species down by foot colour, bill shape, tail length etc. leading to the bird searched for plus a choice of similar species. You can also look for fragments of a species name – the search for “finch“ shows all the species which include the word “finch“ in the species’ name. ***A graphically well-designed layout – easy to use with large lettering.*** "All Birds Ecuador" is very well suited for keeping personalised bird watch lists. The app will be continuously developed further. All updates are free of charge. Once downloaded no internet connection needed – just download the app and start birding! Wish the comparison mode was a bit better but overall really good. Songs with spectrograms, many languages including Spanish. Good app! -- Sollygbirds, 2026-06-24 ### ****- "Very comprehensive field guide" Very nice app that replaces the need to lug around a 3 pound field guide and augments it with sound! It is very well organized and contains information from an authoritative source, the Helm field guide and ornithologist Robin Restall. Plus bird calls! The range maps are for all of "north South America“, so lack a bit of specificity for just Ecuador. Some features that would improve it would be to show one’s current location on the range map, and to be able to filter bird entries by current location. -- Wallybaloo, 2026-05-31 ### ****- "So far so good." Just got this app for a trip to Ecuador and so far, so good. It took me a little to navigate the app to find information like range maps but I like the information provided. Still learning and playing with it so I am sure I will have a more detailed review later when I really put it to use in the field. -- $1zzaUp, 2026-02-08 ### ****- "Birds birds birds." I like the grouping of the birds and the description for each on the same page. I would like to have actual photos of the birds included and when looking at the map, it would be better to have the entire country shown and then highlight the areas the bird could be found in. I will continue to study these birds in preparation of my trip next year. -- mk--momo, 2025-08-10 ### ***** "Boom" Just an excellent app. Still deep diving but really all you could want. Looking forward to studying as I plan my next trip to Ecuador. -- Arkawyer, 2024-10-12 ### ***** "Ecuador app" Just started but seems very easy to search and has great detailed information. -- Find birds, 2023-11-23 ### ***** "Nice addition to my other Ecuadorian field guides" I can use this app in the field for a broader catalogue of calls/songs than just Merlín. It’s also a good quick reference (easy to use and easy to find the bird you’re looking for). -- jake93chut, 2023-07-04 ### ***** "Nebirds!" This app is great and has been super helpful while traveling all through out Ecuador and Colombia! -- Nebirds, 2023-04-14 ### ****- "Great layout!" I haven’t taken the app into the field yet, but my first impression is very favorable. It is laid out in a way that is very easy to use, and the sound recordings are a valuable feature that you can’t get in a printed field guide. The checklist feature is really nice too. -- RPR200, 2023-03-24 ### ***-- "Beats Carrying a Book" Illustrations and audio are good and the comparison feature is isn’t as good as Audubon’s but it’s nice enough. Very lacking on adding your observations unless you do it right in the field, which is often impractical. You have to go into the map application each and every time you want to add a bird to a list. Once you start a list, why not have a feature to add a sighting to it with the same date and location? Otherwise, what’s the point of giving a list a title? I obviously won’t be using it to keep track of my sightings on my upcoming trip, which was the main reason I forked over $25 for it - but it beats lugging a field guide around. -- SueB1023, 2023-02-10 [View all All Birds Ecuador field guide reviews and detailed analytics on AppTail](https://app.apptail.io/signup?utm_campaign=ai-crawl&utm_content=reviews) ## All Birds Ecuador field guide Store Rankings | Chart | Country | Category | Rank | |-------|---------|----------|------| | Top Paid | Ecuador | Reference | #10 | | Top Grossing | Ecuador | Reference | #90 | | Top Paid | Peru | Reference | #225 | ## Apps Similar to All Birds Ecuador field guide -
