What started small eventually escalated to nearly 300mg per day. After many failed attempts to taper off on my own, I finally realized I needed professional help. I was extremely hesitant about starting Suboxone. I believed it was just another false cure and feared I would end up dependent on it for the rest of my life. That changed after my very first session with Dr. Poulos at AllPure Behavioral Health. From the beginning, Dr. Poulos gave me something I had lost — hope. He assured me that freedom from all opiates was absolutely possible if approached the right way. He never rushed the process and constantly reminded me that recovery would be a marathon, not a race. I began treatment at 16mg of Suboxone. Under Dr. Poulos’s guidance, I split my doses throughout the day, and my nightly dose was slowly reduced by just a quarter milligram at a time. Any withdrawal symptoms were mild enough to sleep through, which made the taper manageable both physically and mentally. Most importantly, I was never pressured. I reduced my dosage only when I felt ready. Today, approximately two years later, I am completely opiate-free for 3 weeks, 4 days, 2 hours, and 20 minutes. My withdrawal symptoms are minimal, and for the first time in a very long time, I feel genuinely hopeful about the future. Ever since my first 24 hours being opiate-free, I’ve repeatedly told myself that I truly don’t know where I would be today if I hadn’t scheduled that first appointment through the AllPure Behavioral Health website.
