## AMA MyRide Description

AMA MyRide is a type of telematics or usage-based insurance that tracks your driving habits and provides feedback related to acceleration, hard braking, speeding, distracted driving and cornering, as well as the overall length of the trip.


By enrolling in AMA MyRide, you’ll receive an immediate discount up to 10% just for participating. If you’re a safe driver, high driving scores could mean an even bigger discount in the future. This is a discount only program and you’ll never see a premium increase due to low driving scores.

Please note: This app is not supported on tablets.

### *---- "Very Poor App!"
I had to replace my phone a couple weeks ago and have not been able to log in to this app since downloading on my new phone. Even after resetting my password ( which took me about twenty times of trying to do so) it always always reads “something went wrong“ when I try to log in. When I was able use this app, it was very poor at recording my trips sometimes it doesn’t even recognize that I am travelling it had also recorded the start of a trip the night before and ended the next morning when in fact it was two separate trips which it should’ve known by the location, & the fact that a 2km trip took hours. It also said I was on the phone during that trip when in fact I was at home when I used the phone. Another time it recorded that I was on the phone but I was using Spotify which I had started before I even turned on my vehicle. The app also docked me points for hard braking, I had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting a dog that ran into the street, maybe I should have hit the dog to avoid points being docked One would think that AMA would have all the bugs worked out before it released it to the public. This app is Garbage. Maybe I will be able to login again one day if it gets fixed

Unless if it doesn’t send you a email with a activation code.  Tried multiple times does not work.

Nailed for speeding when doing posted speed limit. App wrong on many highways. Nailed for distracted driving while fuelling up and parked in a car wash. And taking a corner too fast at 20km/hr and on and on👎👎

### *---- "Battery drain and login issues"
I won’t mention the battery drain as it seems to be a common theme with pretty much every review. Functionally, it needs a lot of work. Doesn’t always pick up a drive, yes I’m logged in and all the settings are correct, tags you for speed when when doing the speed limit. Usually when there’s a change to a faster speed. Maps and information need to be updated. Another big issue is I can’t log in on a different phone when I switch phones. What’s the point of creating a username and password when you can’t login on a different phone when you switch or upgrade to a different device? On the old device, no issues at all when logging out and back in, but on a new device, getting the username or password is incorrect warning. When trying to reset password on new device, getting “something went wrong”. Please fix this issue. I know I’m not the only one who switches devices from time to time. I don’t want to carry around two devices just to log my drives.

You have to have location always on and it drains the battery in like half a day. I also don’t know what I did wrong when it marks down my driving.

I am a professional driver and my route is pretty defined day in and day out. Today I noticed a pretty significant glitch, the app created a route which was different from my factual route. My bus is equipped with monitoring devices and is video surveillances. 
Not only did the app have me on the wrong path, but it also said I had such an extreme acceleration that it reported a poor score. It also said that I made a right turn where that acceleration happened, however I drove straight through the intersection after being stopped at a red light. 

Furthermore the app has signalled ‘distracted driving’ even though my phone was in my personal bag in my cargo hold. 
My bus pings my company for the same items AMA MyRide is monitoring, however, I do not understand how the AMA app works when company surveillance, client surveillance and the governor keep me super accountable. 

AMA you need to fix this app, it is awful! It’s is so flawed!

Thought I’d try this but probably going to opt out if immediate changes aren’t made. Pulled over to take a call and it said distracted driving, made a call from a parking lot after I had parked, same thing. One trip showed excessive braking, I just pulled up to a stop sign normally. Sudden braking to avoid deer in this area is very common, especially in winter & at night but AMA will see it as bad driving.

I appreciate the exchange of info for a credit (for good social behaviour), but this app is often the leading consumer of battery energy. It seems like there is a bug somewhere. I have to terminate the app to get normal remaining time on my phone. Btw, once it reported that we (myself as a passenger in a van) were on a train despite not being anywhere near train tracks of any sort.

### *---- "Privacy concerns and innacurate tracking"
I am unsure how the insurance industry is going to use the data that they collect from these apps because for the first week of installing this app, I have not driven anywhere and you’ve tracked all my walks with the dog and runs. You additionally do not allow any way of removing false recordings. The insurance companies will have to used advanced filtering and AI if they are going to get any meaningful data here. Though, if optimized, the data would be quite valuable. I am unsure of the privacy implications - the app forces you to track your location and I am told the data is aggregated and anonymous. However, for only 10% off my premium, I feel this is more a nuisance and privacy invasion than any real savings and does not provide any real insight into your driving habits due to its flawed data collection method.
