⚠️ The Amtrak app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
Absolutely terrible app to try and book in advance. We’ve travelled from the Uk so we have to add in each persons details. Try to click payment, the button fades, as if loading to the next page; but nothing happens. Tried multiple times on 2 phones and iPad. Nothing works. Help chats are completely useless, the ‘agents’ even close the chats early without resolving anything! Can’t even fill out a feedback form on their website, as they won’t let you fill out the current date! Overall a very stressful experience whilst on a holiday. AVOID!!

You need to add a billing address to collect points and it appears only a North American address is accepted.
Waste of time for everyone else.

Travelling from the UK I found this app very useful to add my trips from my laptop . Pretty straightforward and reliable
Difficult experience buying online tickets from UK
Terrible experience trying to buy advance tickets online in the UK for a 4 leg trip visiting Ohio and NY state. Unable to join or register with Amtrak unless you are a US or Canada resident so for every ticket I had to add all details of travellers and payment information which was very time consuming. Also each time I got to the payment screen it kept freezing so I had to start the whole process again several times. Asking for help with the chat bot Julie was no help at all.
Worst app ever
Just all rubbish really. Won’t let you book everything is difficult especially signing in.

Starting in New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Pittsburg, Cleveland, buffalo, and Boston.
All the trains have been on time, the staff at all the stations have been very helpful.
The 10 segment pass is brilliant and easy to use , coming from the uk the surf liner has been a new experience.
Well done Amtrak.

Insanely Negative
I boarded a train running thirty minutes late, rode for 45 and then we stopped on the tracks. There was zero communication for over 3 hours. There were people getting off the train and walking alongside the tracks. The info on the app showed up hours after it would have been helpful. I can’t understand why they wouldn’t have stopped at a station to make it safer. Or why there weren’t better protocols for protecting passengers, keeping facilities clean and communicating helpfully to keep people calm during such a stressful situation. When I went to go find food the man told me he was going to take an hour and a half break, with no one covering. So no access to water? I realize it’s an unusual situation but there should be protocol to keep people safe regardless.
Often non functioning
Usually some functionality is off and you get a message like we are unable to xxxx at this time. Try again later. Sometimes it works a week later. Sometimes it doesn’t. Worst train app I’ve seen in my life.
