AnkiMobile is a mobile companion to Anki, a powerful, intelligent flashcard program that is free, multi-platform, and open-source. Sales of this app support the development of both the computer and mobile version, which is why the app is priced as a computer application.
AnkiMobile was written by the lead developer of Anki and AnkiWeb, and it has been around since 2010. Beware other apps using "Anki" in their name that have sprung up recently - they are not compatible with the rest of the Anki ecosystem, and they offer far fewer features, despite charging expensive subscriptions.
Some of AnkiMobile's features include:
- A free cloud synchronization service that lets you keep your card content synchronized across multiple mobile and computer devices. This makes it easy to add content on a computer and then study it on your mobile, easily keep your study progress current between an iPhone and iPad, and so on.
- The same SM2 and FSRS scheduling algorithms that the computer version of Anki uses, which remind you of material as you're about to forget it.
- A flexible interface designed for smooth and efficient study. You can set up AnkiMobile to perform different actions when you tap or swipe on various parts of the screen, and control which actions appear on the tool buttons.
- Comprehensive graphs and statistics about your studies.
- Support for large card decks - even 100,000+ cards.
- If your cards use images or audio clips, the media is stored on your device, so you can study without an internet connection.
- A powerful search facility that allows you to find cards that match criteria such as 'tagged high priority, answered in the last ten days and not containing the following words', and automatically place them into a deck to study.
- Support for displaying mathematical equations with MathJax, and rendering LaTeX created with the computer version.
- Support for adding images drawn with the Apple Pencil to your cards.
Please note that AnkiMobile is currently intended as a companion to the computer version of Anki, rather than a complete replacement for it. While AnkiMobile is able to display and schedule your cards in the same way the computer version does, certain changes like modifying note types need to be done with the computer software. Add-ons are not supported, so while you can study image occlusion cards created with the computer version, they can not be created within AnkiMobile. For this reason, please start with the computer version of Anki before you think about buying this app.
The cloud synchronization service is optional, and data can also be imported/exported from the app via a USB cable or AirDrop.
Like all apps, AnkiMobile can be purchased once and then used on multiple devices in a household using the same Apple ID. Family sharing is also supported (apart from in India). For information on bulk discounts for educational institutions, please see Apple's Volume Purchase Program.
For more information on AnkiMobile, including a link to the online manual, please have a look at the support page: https://docs.ankimobile.net/support.html. If you have any questions or want to report an issue, please let us know on our support site and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

thought it was a free app
i downloaded this like weeks ago and it wasn’t a paid app because i can download it without having to pay for anything, it stayed in my device for weeks without even using it because i dont know how, and just earlier i saw in my emails, a receipt that says i paid almost $50 for something in this app at 1 am and i dont even open or use this app at all, so like im wondering what’s that $50 for and how did it pay itself? plssss any developer out there?😭 im a student and also struggling financially, is there a possibility that i can get my money back? i requested a refund on apple btw
Baffling
This is quite possibly the least intuitive apps or pieces of software I have ever used. I feel like I need to go into some kind of day-long workshop just to begin to get my head around it.
I really regret paying the money for this.
Maybe some time when I’ve got a whole weekend of nothing better to do, I’ll try to get my head around it all and read the pages of instructions, but really, I’m not sure this was designed for regular people. It feels like what an app would be in the 1980s (if apps were a thing then).
I just wanted some flashcards. That’s all I wanted.
Best flash card app
This is the best flash cards system—don’t bother trying to find a pre-made deck though, making your own deck and incrementally updating it is the way to go.
Fantastic
As sad as it sounds, finding Anki is one of the best things that has happened in my life.
Was Working Perfectly Fine
This is by far one of the best applications I have used in terms of flash cards. However, it was working perfectly fine until today when it was updated. Now in multitask view, the text boxes extend out too far. In other words, when making a flash card, the writing keeps going until I press enter, despite me not being able to view that writing. Please fix.
What happened??
Was always great but since the latest update all the pictures on my cards no longer synchronise to my phone, saying there's an error with AnkiWeb...
Great app
Highly customizable, that's what I need. As an advanced English learner, I'm trying to boost my vocabulary from 9000 to 20000(native). So what I need is a app that I can take the pictures of the materials I read and highlight the all the new words in a single card, so that I can review/learn them. This app can satisfied my need, perfectly.
Best on the market
The Anki app for iOS greatly complements the desktop version and 30 or so dollars is a small price to pay for both the desktop version and this app plus ankiweb. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who is studying a language or just about anything else.
IOS version for the best flashcards system
Anki has been the single most useful tool I have used to learn the Japanese language; it's hard to imagine a pre-Anki world to be honest. This IOS client works seamlessly with the main desktop app, and paying for it supports the development of the whole system.
Don't waste your money
Don't buy Anki Mobile unless you absolutely need it (I did and still regret it), as it's horrendously overpriced and completely pales in comparison to the desktop version in too many ways to list. I build apps for a living and can't believe that I'm being charged $30 for what is a very standard iOS application. 100% dissatisfied.
