I beta tested this update. A problem still persists. You cannot scroll smoothly through content. The app stalls out/freezes making reading through a story very frustrating. The look is improved but beauty is nothing without function.

The new update and style is so bad. The AP is in my opinion the most trustworthy place to get one’s news.
It was almost certainly my most used app.
The new update is a hot mess, littered with bugs and non user friendly “upgrades”.
It’s almost as though the AP got rid of whoever was doing the old app and replaced them with someone of complete incompetence.
Can we just have the old app back please, I never asked for this mess of an update?

The new look is nice and fresh. I have two suggestions or feature requests:
1) I use this app because the AP is great for breaking news, but you got rid of the counter (34 min ago). Bring it back, please.
2) I can’t figure out how to make the small text larger. Easier way to change that, please.

Photos would be better on the left.
It is awkward to see photo on right then look to left to read. Would be less awkward if you flip them.

Update** Today’s update is an improvement. Fonts are better. The page layout is just not good. To much free white or black space.
Still not the app it once was or an improvement. A gray background option
may be easier on the eye. I would make the thumbnail photos a little larger.

The update ruined a good app. Just like every other news app now.  Loved the prior gray background and layout. Will delete now. Ruined a wonderful thing.

Last revamp causes my phone to crash regularly. Also it’s a bummer not to be able to slide to a new story in the same section.  Pictures are also less fine to scroll through. Used to be my fave news app, but now it’s second fiddle to BBC again.

I love the AP news, only place I trust for (relatively) unbiased info. But my god, this update is the WORST. It’s cluttered, unintuitive, dates for articles aren’t posted, there’s twice as many ads, it performs worse, they ruined my feed, giving me useless un relevant news. Or I will get a notification for something, open the app, and I won’t find that story unless I go digging. The app worked perfectly before and they had to go and ruin it. I hope they roll it back to a few months ago. But I know they won’t. It’s so bad that I legitimately read the news less because it’s just so clunky and awful. Roll back this update and it’s easily 5 stars.

The update looks slicker, but has become less useful. 
1) It’s more difficult to scroll through the days news as unrelated topics are grouped together. 
2) Choosing the category of Local News immediately crashes the app.
3) The search function is less useful. I used to search on “Califo” and the first category that would come up is California. Now I have to type the entire word California for that to be presented as the first category. For whatever reason, lots of other categories with the word California in them appear first.
4) Given the limited availability of good news sites, I’d be willing to pay for APNEWS, but only if they redesign their redesign.

Latest update has a persistent header and some top-story buttons that never go away. It is wasting precious screen space. I know I’m using the AP app -  I chose to open it. I’m not interested in those top stories, so why reduce the usable screen area to basically a square?!
