Shuwa 項目是 Google、香港中文大學、日本財團和關西學院大學之間的合作項目，旨在能夠與本地聾人和學術研究人員合作，真正為聾人社區解決問題。
我們項目的使命是為聾人社群有意義地推進技術，以提高一般人對聾人文化的認識，並在此過程中創造有用的教育服務和體驗。
我們依靠突破性的人工智能技術來檢測手語及姿勢，並且只需要一個簡單的網絡攝像頭和本機上的人工智能學習系統。為保障用戶私隱，我們不會發送任何視頻到網絡上。香港中文大學語言學及現代語言系手語及聾人研究中心（“本中心”）無須事先通知而可隨時修改手語村手冊（SignTown Handbook）（“此手冊”）的內容和任何部分。因使用、誤用或依據此手冊的資訊而導致的損失或破壞，本中心概不負責。
