想像してください。
目の前に「ショートケーキ」と「ゴキブリ」の写真があればどちらに注意が向くでしょうか。おそらく大半の人が「ゴキブリ」に注意が向きます。「ゴキブリ」に目が行くのはネガティブな思考によるものです。
はるか昔から長い間、私たち人間は狩猟で生活をしていました。
食べられる木の実と命の危険となりうるライオン同時に視界が入った時にライオンに注意が向きます。それは木の実にしか気付いていなければライオンに襲われて生命が絶たれてしまうからです。脳は自分が「長く生きていく」ことを目的に考えを巡らせます。
つまり、人類はネガティブな思考をすることによりこれまで生き長らえてきました。普段の生活においてネガティブな思考をすることはとても大事です。心配事や不安という感情が生まれることは生きていく上で必要不可欠です。
その感情があるからこそ、人は準備をしたり、努力をすることで、何事も成し遂げることができます。
ただ、現代ではネガティブになりすぎてしまうことが新たな問題となっております。
近代文明となった今日では、日常生活において、狩猟時代のような自分の生命の危機に直面するようなことは無くなりました。飽食の時代の今では、ネガティブな思考は狩猟時代のときほど必要とはされなくなりました。現代ではネガティブなりすぎて、ストレスを必要以上に抱えたり、不安症やうつ病を発病することが問題視されています。
つまり、文明の進化に人間の脳の進化が追いついていません。
様々な研究にて、ポジティブなものに注意を向ける訓練を繰り返すことで、ネガティブな感情の低減効果が証明されています。
ネガティブ思考を減らすことで、ストレスを軽減させることが出来ます。
うつ病、不安症の軽減効果があることも報告されています。
