Very suspicious application
The app requires a 1$ card charge to sign up for the app. Regardless of the card you use and the balance it will say invalid information. However, I can see from my card provider that a government owned company has queried my bank for the validity of the details and confirmed they are valid… do not trust this app.
Slow and buggy
iPhone 14 Pro Max iOS 17.5.1 & Mi 11 Ultra (latest update) Opening WeChat, even if the app has been minimised and not closed, prompts long loading times (sometimes exceeding 15 seconds) just to update conversations despite receiving message updates. Updating moments is very slow and laggy and the option to change album to upload specific content doesn’t work. I will have to press numerous times the little arrow to change the album but still I’m left with nothing. App is slow and clunky, and looks very outdated like it’s from 2005 and desperately needs an appearance and UI overhaul. PLEASE UPDATE THE APP PROPERLY!
Can’t sign up
Birthdate required, the green button doesn’t work to enter birthdate. Every time I press the button the dates move instead. Rubbish…
Nonsense
Now you’re forced to provide payment info to register, which is ridiculous for a messenger app. You may also use Weixin pay or ask another friend to use their WeChat app to scan your QR code to complete registration, still I don’t think many people are using Weixin pay outside China. Plus the QR code method simply does not work. The company claims they are doing this to protect the app from scammers while they’re being the biggest scam themselves.
Not allowing to register on iPhone
After downloading app when I am registering my account at certain point in registration process it ask to enter birthday’s year and month. Once you select correct year and month. But then green ok button remains disabled. I tried to re install app but same issue. So this app has faulty setup.
Won’t work if you’re in UK 🙈
Prior to my holiday upcoming, I start preparing downloading the most most important apps for visiting China. When I arrived at WeChat, I cannot create a new user and join into this application because I need someone who have WeChat to vouch for me (give me a code or scan my QR code). I really think this is disappointing and discriminatory.
