《商务国际现代汉语词典》彩色版是一部规范型、学习型的语文工具书，适合广大中小学师生、一般语文工作者和汉语学习者使用。

规模较大：本词典320万字，属于中大型辞书，收录现代汉语词语67000余个，其中新词语19600余个。经过语文学者和辞书专业编辑精心遴选、倾力编写的这些词条，基本反映了我国现代汉语的词汇面貌，是广大读者的学习和查考需要。

编者知名：本词典主要内容原编纂者为中国社会科学院语言所词典室4位知名辞书专家，新词语部分由鲁东大学教育部汉语辞书研究中心3位知名学者撰稿，后期编辑修订工作由商务国际辞书编辑部7位经验丰富的辞书编辑校对们承担。

【内容特色】
1.规范型
　　本词典是一部规范型词典，字形、词形、注音等严格按照国家语言文字规范。
  1)字头收录13000余个，囊括了《现代汉语通用字表》全部7000通用字，还收录了现代常见的姓氏用字、人名用字、地名用字、科技名词用字以及罕用的文言字等。异体字和繁体字的处理执行《第一批异体字整理表》和《简化字总表》有关规定。
  2)词目收录54000余个，涵盖了现代汉语基本词汇和一些常见的方言词语、百科词语和外来词语等。其中，异形词的处理执行《第一批异形词整理表》有关规定。
  3)注音均按《汉语拼音方案》有关规定，全部条目用汉语拼音字母注音。异读字、词读音的处理执行《普通话异读词审音表》有关规定。
  4)检字表中部首依据《汉字部首表》立部，按照《GB13000.1字符集汉字部首归部规范》归部。
2.学习型
  1)精心编写释义。
  2)精心设计“语汇”板块。
　　“语汇”板块中列出了大量逆序词语（即字头在双音词的后一个位置上的词语），例如字头“次”下，除了有以“次”开头的词目如“次第、次日、次生”等13个常用词语之外，还在“语汇”中列出了“次”在后一个位置的“班次、屡次、名次、造次、语无伦次”等41个常用词语。这41个常用词语在本词典里也都能查找到相应的词条。
　　“语汇”板块为读者提供了的词汇联想信息，是为广大中小学生扩大词汇量或进行组词练习提供了极大方便。
  3)精心编写“注意”内容。
  4)精心选配400余幅精美插图。
