TL:DR: One of the best mobile MMORPG's in the history of mobile gaming, but has slowly been poisoned by generic mobile game practices. I first played avabel on my iPad back in 2013 when the game didn't even have english servers. I couldn't read any of the text in the game at the time, but 13 year old me LOVED avabel online so much. Avabel was a solid MMORPG- arguably the best one for mobile, with several classes, character options, areas to explore, clothing items or "avatars" (as they're called is game), epic boss fights and it just filled you with an overwhelming urge to keep pushing forward and explore more. But this has all changed.. While I still adore avabel online, it's clear that it has been plagued by commonplace mobile game practices, with afk questing/fighting, heavier focus on in app purchases, less need to interact with the game's community and the whole "big number go up make brain go brrr" motive. Seeing a once great and balanced MMORPG become corrupted with these uninspired and cheap systems really soured my view of one of my favourite childhood games. Another quick gripe that hurts the experience but is not really a make or break for newer players was the removal of the stall system. What was once a bustling player-based marketplace for selling and trading rare cosmetics, now doesn't seem to exist at all. Rather disappointing to see that system go but I guess not everyone enjoyed buying and selling skins from other players. I remember vaguely that there was supposed to be an Avabel Classic, but I also heard that, that was a cashgrab of a flop. It's a shame because that makes me think the devs know that they once had something really good but slowly gave in and poisoned it to stay relevant on the mobile gaming platform.
