リバーシ とは、2人用のボードゲーム。交互に盤面へ石を打ち、相手の石を挟むと自分の石の色に変わる。最終的に石の多い方が勝ちとなる。単純なルールながら、ゲームとしての複雑さは人間がゲームの木の全展開を把握可能な程度を超えており、いまだにコンピュータによる全解析は達成されていない。“A minute to learn, a lifetime to master”（覚えるのに1分、極めるのは一生）がリバーシのキャッチフレーズである。
