Apple Books Reviews

Please add this simple feature

OiBart on

Can you please update the app so when you touch the screen the time, the battery symbol and the bar down the bottom disappear. I like to only look at the book when I’m reading the other stuff is jarring. PLEASE UPDATE

Lack of functions

Yachinyu on

Australia

I want to know how long I have spent on a single book, how many hours I have spent on a weekly/monthly and annually for reading. As well as I would like to export my highlighted sentences and notes.

Let’s move forward

Years ago I used to be able to see my books in categories and I loved it - I could easily find a new book for every mood, but then an update came and it disappeared and never came back… I used to quick tap top right corner to bookmark a page, now that corner closes the book… bookmarks used to be visible and tap on/off, now they don’t show unless you search them and apparently you can add multiple bookmarks to the same page… it’s harder to scroll now, and there are loading errors and I feel like each update makes the reading experience a little worse. I appreciate that someone has gone to a lot of effort to make it pretty, but please bring back the useful ways it used to work! Please focus on the user experience- we open the app to read a book, make it easy to find one (eg categories, read/not read, download date, series, authors folders, search options etc) easy to see an overview (eg tap to open in store, unless you are already reading it), easy to read (the old one-tap options showing at top/bottom were great, no excess menus or taps, just tap to hide) and basic preferences in-app for users to create their own experiences (eg to choose bookmark menu on top, always open in store first, put read goals at top, hide suggestions etc) I challenge you to put old and new together and give the users the choice of what they want to see, are you willing? Good luck and I hope it works! -Irene Until then, how do I download the old version?

User unfriendly

mscww on

Australia

I used the earlier version iBooks and enjoyed the experience. The new Book is so much less an experience. Navigation is impossible if you want anything more than next page (it appears when you first open a book, but disappears and never returns). The only way to finish a book is now to close the app! And the program “hangs” often - I have to reload the app to continue.

Can’t share my highlights all at once :(

It’s quite disturbing and disappointing. Are they still maintaining this app?! it’s really unfriendly to apple users at this point.

Crashes

Sefwef on

Australia

Books crashes whenever I try to open Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence. Don’t know whose fault it is, but I would like to read a book I paid for. Otherwise, it’s fantastic.

A shadow of its former self

seeingpastbarriers on

Australia

Omg! I go away from iBooks for a while and what I see? Buggy. Clunky. Very easy to lock into portrait mode with a stray gesture of the finger and nigh on impossible to identify the icon for continuous scrolling. Not at all the seamlessly user-friendly quality I expected and got from older iterations of a formerly excellent iOS app.

NEW UI COMPLETELY RUIN READING EXPERIENCE

LimeAlz on

Australia

This new ui takes the joy out of this app. Whoever design the new us, I hope you are happy knowing you destroyed the app

A suggestion

ZoeK595 on

Love this app I use it everyday I love reading on It and all the features like text size and lighting. I don’t plan to stop using this app ever. But one this that would make this app AMAZING would be an auto-scroll feature. It would take this app from great to the greatest. Please consider it.

Why so much books you have to buy
