For the past two years, I’ve relied entirely on Apple Maps, drawn in by its clean UI. However, it falls short in critical areas, leading me to return to Google Maps.

One major issue is its inability to accurately locate nearby chain restaurants, often directing me to locations in the U.S. despite being in Toronto (like um I don’t expect this in 2025..) Another is the lack of accurate local transit support. As a frequent transit user, I often notice that Apple Maps suggests inefficient or outright incorrect routes. Recently, it has even ignored an entire subway line, making it unusable in contrast, Google Maps..Its shortcomings in updates and functionality make it frustrating to use, Id give it an overall 2.5/5.

Every so often I check to see if I can switch…

Search for an address accidentally click the west version (W) rather than east and want to update it? You can’t…

Want to select something on the map that isn’t showing up? No “what’s here” functionality, it just picks the wrong business/restaurant.

Largest issue, the restaurants and reviews opens external applications??? Absolutely horrible user experience. I use map apps primarily for choosing restaurants, quickly glancing at the reviews and fellow user photos.

I live in Toronto, Canada and I don't know why, but everytime I look up to go anywhere it only shows option for bus and GO train, no subway. Why is the subway lines not showing? It used to show before, I don't know what happened. And yes, I have all the 4 preferred transit methods turned on. I had to switch to Google Maps because it shows the subway lines there.

And the suggested routes are sometimes the stupidest ways to take. How about adding a truck routes and speed limits?? Only reason why I use this on top of using my $600 truck gps is the real time traffic conditions and reporting speed traps

plan a roue, then try to zoom in on the highway number of a particular sector..  doesnt show the hwy / road numbers..  on occasion it does.   on IOS17 this problem didnt occur.  

How about searches while having a route active?  enroute rest areas, fuel, coffeeshops..  so Basic..  Apple has become dumb, it is out of control with stupit.   Shareholders are Happy..  Users are frustrated.. Tim Cook, your fired.
