Don’t bother to apply account online with them. What happened to me is I applied an account for my daughter with Hong leong apply app. Few days after the application was sent, I received an email from Hong leong instructing me to deposit rm20 to activate. Deposited as told. However, they then told me my daughter account is deactivated and need her to activate at branch. I now can’t close the account nor get back my money unless I sent my daughter to Hong leong branch. What a hustle and bustles.

I have tried to open my business account using hlb apps! But got error to confirm all of my details. And keep sending me email asking to do action in their apps! All good with the app, just that people will be annoyed when it comes to the verification part. There’s trick that you should know, make sure to scan the IC at open daylight area and if it’s at night, make sure it’s not to close to the light and if it’s close,do make sure there’s no glare/reflection. Then you can easily scan and verify and your account will be created within 24hours.

I want to register and open HongLeongBank but the branch is quite far. So, I do try this online method. I saw majority of low review here are about the scan IC part. Well, at first, if you not know the trick, yes, it will be very difficult. I do use only iPhone 7. The reason the scan not detect is because it really sensitive to lamp light. So, you need to do it outside your house with natural sunlight. Then, I put my IC on my left hand and scan it using my right hand (just like the picture in the apps thumbnail). It works perfectly. For the tilt part, do the same method ; use left hand, scan with right hand. For now, I do give 5 star for the method and my application is still under review. Hopefully, it will go as smooth as butter.

Still need to go to branches to activate online banking. I mean, can’t you just also make this easier for us to register online banking via online?
