Description

WHAT IS ARSENAL? Arsenal is the world’s first intelligent camera assistant for DSLR and mirrorless cameras. By combining this mobile app and Arsenal’s ultralight hardware you get complete control over your camera from your smartphone!
NEVER MISS THE PERFECT SHOT: Like your own personal photography assistant, Arsenal lets you focus on the parts of photography you love while it takes care of the rest. In Smart Mode, Arsenal’s machine learning algorithm understands the scene you’re shooting, chooses smart settings, and fine tunes them using 18 different environmental factors.
GET COMPLETE CONTROL: When you want full creative control, Arsenal’s Manual Mode turns your smartphone into the world’s best wireless camera remote. Set your camera’s shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. See a live preview of your shot. And trigger the shutter... all from up to 100 feet away!
TAKE GREAT SHOTS IN TRICKY LIGHT: Capture scenes with High Dynamic Range (HDR) without spending hours in front of your computer. Arsenal automates advanced exposure stacking techniques, taking multiple exposures and merging them into a single RAW or JPG file on your camera.
KEEP EVERYTHING SHARP: With focus stacking, you can get your entire scene in sharp focus. Arsenal calculates the optimal number of exposures, takes them at different focus positions, and merges them into one crystal clear image on your camera.
CAPTURE STUNNING TIMELAPSES: Arsenal makes capturing “holy grail” timelapses a breeze. Simply start your timelapse and let Arsenal adjust the exposure as the light changes for a smooth day-to-night transition. You can even preview your timelapse while it’s being recorded.
WORKS WITH MOST POPULAR CAMERA MODELS: Arsenal fully supports dozens of popular DSLR and mirrorless camera models made by Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Fuji. To see if your camera is supported, visit https://witharsenal.com/supported-cameras

Arsenal Remote Reviews

The next update.

I like the app. I have been using it for years. When is your next update? It has been nearly a year since the last update. Bugs like slows connection and the app freezing while making time-lapses. With the new arsenal 2 out I thought a new update would have happened already.

Problems

Just keeps telling me in it’s in handheld mode. Can’t change settings in manual mode and getting very frustrated

Build quality?

Overall it is a handy piece of equipment, but when you factor in the price tag, it raises eyebrows. The main thing that sticks out is the build quality is so very much questionable, for such a simple piece of tech, for that price, I expected better. The design is at best ok physically, with a major flaw being, it can slide straight off the hot shoe. No planning for people’s use off tripod or high angles on tripod at all. I have ordered $2 tech off eBay with better ability to hold onto the top of your camera, all you needed to add was a simple screw down plate to keep it in place.

Perfect

I bought this thing hoping it’d be useful. When I got it, I spent ages trying to get it to work - the developers had a bunch of issues with firmware update problems. Eventually I got it working, by having to stick it in the freezer to overcome a thermal issue. Ok, well & good, at least I could get it to connect to the phone and camera. However after wasting too many hours on it, I put it aside intending to get back to it. Many months later, I today got it out and tried to connect - yet again, another firmware update was required. Ok. Followed all their instructions, but yet again, the firmware update has failed. Only this time, none of their support options work (including again freezing the damn thing). Essentially, I’ve never taken a single shot with it, I can’t get it to run, I can’t fix it because none of their “solutions” work. I was prepared to experiment when I bought it, and was pretty forgiving because it was new technology. However, at this point, I’ve given up. Your experience may differ. But for me, don’t waste your money.

Improving all the time

When I first received the 2 Arsenal remote devices I watched a few online videos to learn how to use them. I took these to Africa and all went really well. It also works well with an iPad. Putting the time in to learn how to use the device and app was well worth it. I would like to be able to download the firmware once and update multiple devices from my iPhone but I now have faster internet bandwidth so not as big a problem as it was.

Regretting this everyday

The syncing to my iPhone is a VERY bad user experience and the device defaults to a Sony camera rather than my Canon. For the amount of Dollars paid for this VERY VERY disappointed

Supports antique cameras only

The project was so late that by the time it shipped, I gave away my XT1 and bought a cheap XT2 because by that time XT3 was already on the market. This update finally introduced support for XT2! Woohoo! I wonder how long till support for my current camera - the XT3 is finally there. Probably by the time I upgrade to XT4 or whatever comes next. Complete waste of money. Absolutely not worth it.
