We'll guide you through the entire experience, from purchase to the plate. Browse cuts by animal, ultimate cooking style or let the butcher suggest the perfect cut for you. Next, find out what to look for when shopping and what to ask your butcher. Learn how to prepare your cuts perfectly and cook it like a pro with our unique meat timer. Any time you have a question, you can search our handy meat tips or have your question answered personally by the butcher.

If you’re having dinner for one or having a dinner party let the butcher suggest the quantities and types of meat for your occasion. If you’re looking to master the basics of great meat preparation or trying out an unusual cut of meat, the app has you covered. We’ll provide guidance through the whole process.

Features include: Cooking timer based on meat and weights selected, help you with tips and questions for your butcher, preparation suggestions and cut information straight from the butcher’s mouth. Each cut is accompanied by a butcher’s recipe and internal temperatures for each level of doneness.

Who is the Butcher?

The master butcher behind Ask the Butcher is Anthony Puharich, owner of Vic’s Premium Quality Meat, which has been supplying quality meat to Australia’s finest restaurants for over 15 years, and serving up specialty meat at the prestigious Victor Churchill butchery, the “Bulgari of butcheries”.

Anthony shares his in-depth knowledge and expert advice, so you too can bring out the very best that meat can offer.

Anthony is also staring in a new TV show, Ask the Butcher, airing from 26th March 2013 on Australia’s LifeStyle FOOD channel.

NB: This is a NEW app from Ask the Butcher, offering new functionality such as 'Suggest a cut',  'At the butchers' and 'Prepare it perfectly'. The new timer prompts you to turn your meat and most importantly advises on how long to rest your meat.

Good bones but needs fine tuning.. Cooking time is estimate at best. I prefer using a meat thermometer. Most disappointing is the lack of support and updates.. No response from ask the butcher function. Seems it was created years ago and forgotten about.

Needs to incorporate low and slow methods, how to ask for cuts of meat we see on British and American cooking shows etc. 
The "ask the butcher" function also doesn't work. 
No updates to the app for years - long overdue.  This could be such a good app with some attention to detail.

The mass of the meat has limitations (eg.whole chick only allows up to 1.4kg etc). The dials sometimes can be malfunctioned. Also, once out of the app, the current setting is working but we can't go back to view the information while the meat's already cooking away. Otherwise brilliant app.
