Audio Memos

The quality of the recording is impressive; clear, loud, accurate. I use it for recording the lectures mostly and despite the distance and buzz in the hall, I get a good recording that I can use afterwards.

I highly recommend this app. Pros are that the recordings are clear and there is long limit on their duration as long as you have the space. Transferring the recordings to others can be challenging and a bit quirky. Quite often it takes several steps to move a recording somewhere so that it can be shared or edited.

I’ve been using this App for many years and it’s been very reliable and valuable. Thank you.

I’m a composer, and I use this app all the time. It’s so easy to record ideas for future compositions. It’s fast and easy, and excellent.

Recording doesn’t work

This app has been so buggy since the beginning and the developers unfortunately fail to fix the bugs. I have been waiting for more than a year now - same crashing bugs I reported to them still present: - I keep losing audio memos which is incredibly frustrating. I lost so much work because of this app, I feel a fool for continuing to rely on this after the first instance when I recorded a long dictation on my Apple Watch and it simply disappeared. There is a pause button, but I just see it as a “russian roulette button” because if you pause recording and switch apps, you have a 50-50 chance that you will lose the recording you paused. - recordings on the Apple Watch remain in the “sync in progress” cue forever. I contacted the developers looking for solution and they tried, but failed to fix this. Sync has been broken for well over a year. Every memo you ever recorded remains in a “sync in progress” queue until you delete them manually, one by one. If you get too many, the Watch app gets overwhelmed and won’t sync at all. I am just writing this review now, after I lost a long dictation, recording my thoughts on my Apple Watch and at one point, the app randomly started a new recording and my long dictation was completely gone. Extremely frustrating and not really hard to solve - just implement autosave every few seconds and this will never happen. The fact that this hasn’t been done in over a year after I first reported it tells me that the developer doesn’t care about users losing their important data, so I’m done with this app. It is a beta app at best, and the developer is using you as a guinea pig to discover the fatal flaws of the app - and even then, they still don’t fix them.

This app stops recording every time I put my phone down. It picks up A LOT of background noise making it hard to hear people’s voices. It also doesn’t pick up voices more than 6 feet away. Would love to see this app have noise cancellation and mute background noise.
