Yup, they really are free audiobooks, and the app to find and play them with is handy enough.
Be aware that all the books are likely to be 80+ years old for copyright reasons so if you're only interested in modern stuff then move on.
The quality of reading is mainly good considering it's done be volunteers but it can be patchy. I also find some of the yankee accents a bit impenetrable at times (and downright weird to hear for English literature)!

This app has a really good choice of classic audiobooks, which I love, but it's a bit hit-and-miss as to the readers. A few readers were so awful/distracting I couldn't carry on listening, yet others really bring the text to life! Definitely recommended if you fancy listening to a good classic audiobook.
