Avadon 2 FAQ
Is Avadon 2 free?
Yes, Avadon 2 is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Avadon 2 legit?
🤔 The Avadon 2 app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
While I agree with the many positive aspects of this game in reviews made by others, I must say that, compared to other similar games, this one forced extremely long battle sequences that gave me headaches. There were also fewer opportunities to buy critical potions, making survival and offensive tactics much more difficult. I’ll stick with Avernum and Exiled Kingdoms, which, to me, are more balanced and enjoyable.
Tougher than Avadon 1, but still worthwhile.
My biggest gripe is that this game's difficulty escalates much faster than Avadon 1, and this difficulty isn't just due to mechanical rebalancing. Nonetheless, it makes people try different strategies (such as hit-and-run) but it can still be pretty frustrating when cannon-fodder enemies have about as much health as bosses do. I would also say that currently, I enjoyed Avadon 1's plot better (in particular, the first time you enter the Corruption kinda lost my attention for awhile), but once you get halfway-through, it starts to get interesting again.
Having finished the game now, I am disappointed to some extent by the ending. There are multiple ways to end the game, but the easiest way to end it was anti-climatic. Nonetheless, still a good plot and if you are planning on playing Avadon 3, you should definitely play this one first for plot reasons.
Great Retro Fantasy RPG!!!
Spiderweb Software makes the best story driven RPG's that I ever played. If you like old school fantasy RPG's like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Avernum, and Dungeons of Chaos on iOS, then this game is for you!
huge world, great storyline
Spiderweb software is fun - take your time and enjoy the ride
Tedious after 2/3
I am a big fan of Spiderweb games, but I have become frustrated with this game. There are 2 things that frustrate me. First, why is there a cap on levels at 30? I reached level 30 about halfway through the game. Now what? Why not allow characters to get more powerful, or at least develop through more of the game? What's wrong with having a character that can eventually wade through lots of enemies quickly? The thing I find most frustrating is the section of the game where they start throwing lots of enemies at you in an endless stream as you try to run for some goal (like Fort Farsite, or whatever it's called). I finally gave up. It's not fun to just blow through potions and scrolls without making any progress. As an aside, it's annoying that "regular" troops are so powerful that they can cause trouble for a level 30 Hand of Avadon. Why can their magic users cast 4 spells at a time. If they can do it, I should be able to also. Anyway, I hope the next game is better.
Awesome game but needs iTunes File Sharing feature
If the developer would add an iTunes File Sharing save feature like the newest Avernum game has, this would be really great and much appreciated. As it stands now under iOS 8.3 or greater, users can no longer access the iOS file system to back up, save, load or move save games between devices. The iTunes File Sharing feature would be very useful and would allow us long-time players with hours spent playing the game to use our previous save games.
Can't save a game or exit to title screen
App. Closes when I try
Huge world became tedious
Having played a few of the old Spiderweb shareware games on Mac years ago and with great respect for their indie efforts, I bought this one for a long trip where I would have a lot of down time. The whole world is quite impressive, with interesting choices and political alignments. However, after playing many hours, maybe 60% through, it increasingly felt like a chore to schlep my characters around, keep track of their goals and rearrange and sell their secondhand gear/loot. I’m wondering if the earlier games were tighter, or perhaps when I was younger I enjoyed roleplaying as a human resources, travel logistics, and ebay specialist. But not anymore - I got bored. I have definitely had good experiences with other big sandbox and campaign games, but unfortunately did not feel like completing this one. It wasn’t an active decision; I just decided to play something else one day and never went back.
Great game, in depth and lots of detail
Love the game, it's fun to play and go through the whole story line. lots of quests to do and the variety of character types can make for some replayability too. It does crash on my iPad 4 if I'm trying to open the IOS control center to adjust brightness or if I have a low battery pop up. Not sure if my experience is unique in that regard but I try to avoid those situations as much as possible. The game itself hasn't crashed during normal play
Bravo
I'm half a day's absorbed play in and have obviously barely started. Great, deep, engaging story and good combat etc. Love it. I really appreciate that Spiderweb has brought their wonderful games to iPad without IAP or anything, just a pure, good, well-balanced game. I wish I had more stars to give.
