AvPlan is an outstanding EFB. It’s intuitive to use, has everything that I could ever need as a private VFR pilot and has the best and quickest responding customer support team I’ve ever encountered. They really are excellent. If there’s ever a problem, it’s in my lack of IT smarts as I’m old school and they fix me up instantly. The backup and support and customer lead development is such an important factor when choosing an EFB app. It’s very easy to understand and use and I wouldn’t be without it. Because ALL the information needed for flight planning is embedded in the app, it makes flight planning a very quick and simple process greatly reducing pilot stress build up. Enroute, it’s simple to operate and hugely increases pilot safety and reduces cockpit workload. It has enormous capability but can also be operated in a very basic manner so it’s the app for all levels. Very highly recommended.

I’ve been using AV Plan since the early days and have always liked how the developers continually improve the product.  I have nothing but praise for this app. I really appreciate how responsive Av Plan are to requests for help , their back up support team are better than any app of any type I own.  I wrote to the app developers to request an option for a larger heads up display as I found when using the app on a tablet that’s connected to a suction device to the bubble of the helicopter the vibration of the heli made the smaller font on the heads up display hard to read . Sure enough a few months later when the next update appeared there was a new option to display fewer parameters on the heads up display but make the ones you want to see much bigger.  No wonder AV Plan continue to grow - they listen to their customers

I’m enjoy using the app for planning and preparation. With very little time and ‘playing’ it becomes very intuitive. In flight it’s a powerful copilot with all the functionality that it offers enroute. As a passenger, my wife finds it very helpful too. I particularly like all the interconnectivity offered with other hardware and apps.

Apart from the disproportional expense, the number of georeference errors on NZ IFR charts are too scary for me to consider this app. Try NZKK RNAV 15 or most NZNS STARs and RNAVs. 

What is even more worrying is that I reported these errors to support and after a full year they are still unresolved. 

So, good moving map. I don’t trust the rest.

### ***** "I won’t fly without it!"
In my opinion AvPlan EFB is the best thing to happen to aviation since the GPS. I’ve been using the app for over two years but haven’t reviewed earlier since I’m worried that I could not find the words to adequately portray how great a tool this is. I use AvPlan EFB for leisure flying in NZ. Sure, I can still map read but this app means I don’t have to, so I can spend more time eyes outside looking for traffic, enjoying the view whilst at the same time avoiding any conflict with controlled airspace. What used to take an hour with pencil, paper and phone calls to different service providers preparing for a flight, now literally take seconds. With my details, the aircraft equipment, performance, basic weight etc preloaded I can get a full briefing, create a load sheet, lodge a flight plan (and later, cancel the flight plan or amend SARTIME) with AIRWAYS. It’s wonderful being able to get a full weather and NOTAM briefing pertinent to my route in seconds with one touch rather than the previous long winded process of having to log into the AIRWAYS website, enter my route details for my NOTAMs, then logging into MetFlight GA website, and again entering my route requirements for my weather brief. In flight, I can see the track, altitude and speed of other traffic also using AvPlan EFB. The skies would be much safer if everybody was using this app, a truly poor mans ADS-B! If I need to check the daylight times or a chart symbol etc, I simply touch Text, NZ AIP and there it is. Every time I think this app could not get any better, Bevan and his team add another feature. I have the IFR version which is exceptional value for money since the annual subscription is similar my paper Vol 2&3 amendment service. These days, even with two Dynon Skyviews, I don’t get airborne without my AvPlan EFP. Thank you AvPlan for making my flying safer, and easier.

### ***** "Brilliant EFB App!"
I really love this app. It contains everything I need with a reasonably cheap subscription. VFR and IFR navigation charts, NZ AIP vol 1 to 4. All approach plates and so on.
It gives me the NZ METAR, TAF, ARFOR and also all NOTAMS. I can file and cancel flight plans straight from the app. It supports ADSB receiver (I have a self built Stratux) and show the traffic from ADSB and from other pilots that have AvPlan and a 4G connection.
It really is too much to write here. It combines really everything I need, where with other apps I need to use or combine 2 or 3 to get the same.
If it stays like this or improves, I will be a customer for life!!

The full AIP, charts and very good flight planning make avplan a stand out app.

Plus you can use avplan on 3 devices, I have an ipad plus a backup iPad mini and iphone so avplan for me just works.

Some minor issues that I have have been fixes, avplan are very open and responsive to feedback which is excellent.

This is now my NZ EFB and has been for several years.
