Hey! I’m Lyndi Cohen – Australian dietician and nutritionist.

I really used to struggle with food and my weight. I was either 'trying to be good' or eating peanut butter straight from the jar! I'd promise to do better but I was all-or-nothing.

Eventually, I decided to ditch diets for a totally new approach to food. I lost 20kg but that turned out to be just an added bonus because now my life isn't controlled by food.

Now, I help others get healthy and this in turn became Back to Basics – an app developed together with experts across women’s health, fitness, pregnancy and mindfulness, sharing what worked for me backed by science and industry research.

Getting better with age on

Hi Lyndi and team, I only downloaded your app a month ago on the recommendation of my daughter who is a binge eater and is an avid user of Back to Basics. I am 70 years old and am currently fighting extra kilos again. I thought I was the only one who experienced all these issues. It is good to know that I am one of many. Thanks for all you do and your advice is helping me to deal with a lifetime of weight governing my life. I have read your book twice and am hoping that, even at my age, I can turn things around.

Brilliant app for busy families

We are loving this app! It is just what we needed as a busy family wanting to eat real food that’s simple to cook and delicious to eat. The planning tool is invaluable, it’s quick to choose meals and then create a shopping list - so something that used to take me hours to do myself now takes a few minutes. Plus you can include healthy, simple home-made snacks. And very practically, we can choose the number of serves for each meal which means that we can cook enough to have leftovers for lunch. The shopping list is split into categories, making it super easy for us to shop between farmers markets and supermarket to save money. I absolutely recommend this app!!

I like the simplicity of the ‘Back to Basics’ app not just for its ease of use - it wouldn’t be much good if that was the only good bit! But it’s also great for meal ideas plus recipes to suit all tastes and workout suggestions. I certainly recommend giving it a go!!

I have been following the workouts on the Back to Basics app for over 3 years now, through pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. I loved that I could be confident that I was moving safely and effectively through pregnancy, and postpartum recovery, and it has made daily workouts accessible with a baby, and now busy toddler. I literally use the app every day. It is such great value, and I could not recommend it more highly.

I have had this app for 3-4 weeks and every recipe I have tried is amazing. I’ve learnt a lot about healthier cooking methods (ie: how to make a creamy pasta sauce that’s to die for using just grated zuchinni and milk). I’m a single Mum and I love that I can dial up or dial down the serves pending if I’m on my own or have the kids and the recipe automatically adjusts the ingredients. And love that we can mark our favourites. You know it’s good when the kids say “Mum, put a star on that one!!” Thanks Lyndi & Team
