Useless Search Function !!!

pitabread15 on

United Kingdom

To use iPlayer I have to pay £154 per year yet it got one of the worst catch-up services, when you search for a program it finds it ok, but if it’s a series it gives no information on the original broadcast date so its difficult to find the next episode your trying to find. With Itvx you search and they show the broadcast date so it’s much more easy to find the next episode your looking for.

Annoying

Doesn’t work on older iOS operating systems

Why Not TVOS

PJ-Parker on

United Kingdom

Great to see iOS receiving regular updates but TVOS not updated for over 12 months and still no 4K output! I’m a license fee payer too so why aren’t you fully supporting all platforms?

Alarm forces delayed live TV back to actual live time

Barsouls on

United Kingdom

When watching ‘delayed’ live TV behind the actual time, if my alarm goes off, it forces the live stream back to the current live time and not the delayed time. So please consider a ‘not interested’ function and an algorithm to exclude ‘already watched’ programmes. Unlike Netflix, here is no intelligent algorithm deciding my recommendations based on viewing history. Please help!

It would be great to see updates for apple tv as well. Subtitles do not work with apple tv.

Great content, weak app

Is anyone actually maintaining this app? While I love the BBC, the app is very basic and has been surpassed by many of its peers. It constantly recommends things I have already seen, or would never want to see. Why can’t it track my usage properly? The biggest irritation is in the Apple TV version where the BBC — unlike every other service — has failed to implement subtitles. So in my projector I can’t switch on subtitles to deal with mumbly dialogue, so prevalent these days.

Absolutely no point in this app if downloads keep disappearing after a crash

NoToGameloft on

I use iPlayer to keep a hold of programmes I want to save and watch later. A previous version’s ability to one-touch download a whole series, bookmark individual episodes, and sort programmes by expiry time was excellent and indispensable. I am baffled as to why these functions, all of which were on the Desktop version of the app, were dispensed of. (The fact that some programmes sometimes expire earlier than originally planned due to DRM reasons I can excuse (but is still annoying)). However, the main issue I have is downloaded programmes that suddenly disappear after the app crashes. Sometimes they survive a crash, but usually after a crash the Downloads section is completely empty again. All that time, effort and bandwidth to download them all, wasted. I have two suggestions to improve this: either fix the crashing situation and improve app stability; or (and this is a better solution), seeing as more of us have ready access to WiFi broadband internet in some form, overhaul the Watchlist, a somewhat helpful function from the Web version of iPlayer, and let us have episode and series bookmarks which can be sorted in expiry time order and whose expiries update in real time (if any change). The latter is especially good as it reduces the strain on device resources and storage, which should also make things stable. Fix this. Please.

Amazing, Just truly amazing!

I absolutely love BBC IPlayer. I’ve had the app ever since it was released, and its just OUTSTANDING!! Its so easy to get a account; just need to put your email and make a password. No money. No subscription. Shows are engaging and feature celebrities including Alan Carr, Michael Mcyntire and Sara Pascoe (they are all my favourites!), News is informative and tell you all the news and anything that’s happening, Dramas and soaps are top notch, the type of drama you could get at west end and CBeebies shows and CBBC shows are educational, interesting and adorable for children of that age group. I would recommend BBC IPlayer to anyone, as this is the best app I have EVER gotten!!!

Great

Best way to watch all your favourite shows even when you missed them the night they came out!!!!

Poor quality

Jamesdonaldt on

United Kingdom

Not sure why the video quality is so poor on iPlayer, even when downloaded and I have higher quality downloads selected. The shows that I know should look fantastic, like all the nature series, look slightly pixelated and low resolution compared to watching content on another app like Netflix
