BBC: World News & Stories Reviews
Biased Reporting
Completed biased reporting by the BBC providing consent for atrocities being committed against innocent people around the world. The BBC used to be a respected news organization but they are clearly beholden to their funders now and journalistic integrity is compromised. The reporting has manufactured consent for what we’ve witnessed the past 16 months. My heart goes out to the journalists who have been forced to choose between their livelihoods and their integrity.
No Filters
Lots of news but no way to hide topics for which you have no interest.
Good news coverage
But I can’t select a word to look it up in the dictionary. They seem to be trying to prevent copying of their content (as if the few who would do that would do it manually through the iPhone app), while all the normal users suffer. For me it’s the dictionary lookups, for some it’ll be the Speak selection feature, for many it may be the Translate feature, and for others it will be the upcoming summarize feature of Apple Intelligence. Nope, you can’t use any of those features with this app because it doesn’t allow you to select the text anymore.
New app is terrible
Unreliable push notifications, poor UI that simply loads the web version of an article and pushing of lifestyle content instead of the news people are actually interested in makes this app a poor substitute for the BBC News app it replaced.
BBC News is a great app
Great app. Thank you so much.
Horrible update
Poor design, poor execution and now poor content (written by robots?). Put zoom back on the pictures at least.
Update to the app ruined it
I no longer count on my BBC news as my go to news app.
I think whomever designed this was trying to loose all app users.
Why?!?!
I was a very loyal long time user of this app, and then you ruined it. I am completely dismayed by your decision to destroy what was my favourite news app and in my and many others opinion one of the best apps for news, the layout and functionality was brilliant, now it’s my least favourite and I likely won’t be using it much longer. My on earth would you remove the “My News” section? Not only that, you may no longer swipe from one article to the next etc? Seriously?! Why????? Please restore these functions and the “My News” section. This app is now a steaming pile and a complete waste of time!
Bring back the old app
MAKE IMAGES ZOOMABLE! it’s an accessibility consideration. Poor experience since the update (early 2024). Big overhaul of the UI. Less thumbnails, more text heavy, feels more cramped. Harder to browse stories. Photos don’t allow pinch to zoom on iPhone and videos don’t go full screen when you turn the phone to landscape mode. I vastly preferred the old version!
BBC world news
BBC world news. This is the only station I use on television. That says it all……however, I used to watch Jeopardy when Alex Treveck (sp) was alive. Do you need more?
Please don’t stoop to the American level. I do like proper English. Yet I can appreciate slang in the excitement of the moment. Women’s voices
Are too high pitched, as a rule. I find men’s voices preferable. I do understand certain topics require a woman’s voice , and speaking as a woman , I can tolerate this, but if possible please use male voices.
