You ruined a perfectly fine app

Half the articles don’t even render. Just a white page.

I saw a photo that BBC news posted that says “Misstiano Penaldo” after the game of Portugal vs Slovenia in ERUO - round of 16 that shows Ronaldo missing a penalty… HOW DARE WHO EVER WROTE THIS. HE IS THE BEST PLAYER OF THE ENTIRE WORLD! Reminder: Ronaldo’s foot is worth 600millions

BBC News App used to be my favorite and the only app I used to watch news. However, after the most recent update there’s no “trending” and the overall layout is very confusing. What does Live even mean? Where did the sections to choose tech, politics, etc or filter by continent go? It’s just all very messy. I just deleted the app, quite disappointing. I feel like this is a don’t try to fix it if it’s not broken as you might end up breaking it kind of situation.

Since updating, the app no longer loads live content. Great. Over the years, the BBC News app has demonstrated the progressive deterioration of quality that is unfortunately very common in the app software industry. Too bad the programmers are not nearly as good as the journalists… New update: now the stories and images get mixed up. This app is really a joke.

Unfortunately the new app is not working well , the interface with articles is flat , why do app makers change things just for the sake of changing 😖it’s horrible now

The news is great but basic functionality like looking up and copying words, and expandable images are missing, making for an incomplete news experience.

Use to live this app as you could click on images and highlight copy to further search on a browsers. Whyyyy would you remove those options. Just stupid. Going to switch t an alt news source that allows users to ‘use’ the app. Geezus BBC. Lost your way.

Forcing the user to click “continue without an account” every single time I open it? I don’t have an account, don’t need nor want want an account, and will never get an account. I’ve been casually reading articles for years - this unnecessary friction on app open each time has by itself dramatically reduced my use of it. I’m sorry to say this new “black and white” version is chaotic, and inferior in many ways to how the (iconic) red one was late ‘22 early ‘23. Many functions lost, and the “thin” flakiness of the web app jarring and unenjoyable to use. Please bring back the red app with optional dark mode, and focus on function over form. Until then it will sadly be gathering dust on its path to irrelevance for my smartphone usage (where I get almost all of my news from these days).

Many losers here who are frighteningly similar to Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory TV series, are having multiple heart attacks about the new BBC black's redesigned interface. Some are making false claims too. One CAN use the app without an account. The organization is excellent with precise categories. I used an ad blocker (Ad Guard) and had no problems viewing videos or reading articles. It's fine! It has good news and detailed news is easily within reach. So stop complaining! This is one app where the change was positive.
