BBC: World News & Stories Reviews

Was once good…

Irlskin on

Ireland

I used to really love using this app. Now when I get alerts 80% of the time when I click on it the app opens, but then stalls and the story doesn’t come up. Very frustrating. There is the fact you can’t highlight and copy text to make posts on social media more interesting by using quotes, you only get the headline and the link. Thats not how you stimulate interest when posting on social media. If the issues are not fixed in the next app update or the one after that… I won’t be using the app anymore.

the BBC ARE COMPLICIT IN GENOCIDE BY INTENTIONALLY MISREPORTING ON THE GENOCIDE TAKING OLACE IN GAZA AND THE UK GOVERNMENTS FUNDING OF THE IDF

Crashes too often - badly laid out links disappear in stories

Only commenting on app not content - app is not well structured and crashes ina regular basis

Whatever happened to QA?

Wednesday Bluekindred on

Ireland

The app is pretty appalling - articles repeat on the page, and often don’t change for several days; elements fail to work (clicking a headline regularly leads to a blank page); and the navigation is just terrible. Previous versions of the app were better. This one needs a redesign, and someone investing in a developer who can make it work. At the same time, perhaps hire a few editors to pick up the glaring typos and reject the occasional rambling personal opinions - make news stories statements of fact again?!

Recently changed for overseas user

wstutch81 on

Ireland

The app has recently changed to a world service version, which is different from the UK version I was using and wanted. Now I am getting stories mostly from America which defeats the purpose of having the BBC app. Stared using Skynews instead sadly.

Ads are intrusive, too long, and impossible to control.

GaiusCoffey on

Ireland

I have given up trying to read any articles as, since the last update: 1. I cannot use it without an account I don’t want to create unless I click two separate “use without an account” links each time I open the app 2. I cannot even _read_ articles as a bloody great ad which I cannot mute, pause, scroll away from or minimise takes up the screen for 30seconds. You are the only app I use where ads and accounts are this intrusive. The result is that I no longer use it.

New layout is horrible

Mrstott on

Ireland

I used to use the app 4-5 times a day; now… I don’t want to open the app. Its visually horrific and hard to navigate. I’ll look elsewhere for my news.

Video doesn’t fill screen when I turn my phone horizontally

Tiniest Text on

Ireland

It’s very annoying that BBC have t tested their app!!! Videos will not fill the screen when I turn my phone from portrait to horizontal landscape!! Please test your own app before releasing!! A video shot in portrait mode appears in a 16:9 frame and is just tiny when the phone is held vertically

New layout is amazing

Awful navigation

Once again the latest version is a mess to navigate. The full sports section is missing
