Since the bombastically announced improvement the user friendliness and ease to slide between items has become practically zero. What a bad design.
When originally items were presented as equal in size, suggesting neutrality, this app has become as cheaply opinionated as most trashy news outlets.

Isn't it common and best practice to swipe from the left to close an article. Are these devs sleeping? It's so not intuitive in this day and age.

I very much preferred the simple straightforward version of this app two major overhauls ago. Why was it necessary to change? It used to be clear and simple to scroll the menus and quick to get a fair overview of the main news. But not anymore. Could you reintroduce the old version please? Not the previous one, but the one before? I have started to use the bbc news app less and less, preferring to use other news apps and websites more.

As of some weeks now since the last update earlier in 2024, it’s incredible but true, but BBC has succeeded in deleting some basic functionality. Two of the most used functions no longer work, namely using the swipe left to go back and the tap to zoom in on a photo. Apparently BBC doesn’t have the capability to right these issues.
