During 2009, the UK Parliament celebrated the 150th anniversary of its world famous Clock Tower, Great Clock and Great Bell.
The name Big Ben is often used to describe the tower, the clock and the bell but the name was first given to the Great Bell. 1859 was the beginning for all three elements when the Clock Tower was completed, the Great Clock started on 31 May and the Great Bell’s chimes were heard for the first time on 11 July.
Have your iPhone (or iPod Touch) display the time of day in style.
Options include:
adding a digital clock display
showing a seconds hand
having it make a tick-tock sound
having it chime every quarter of an hour and toll on the hour (the chiming and tolling sounds will play even when the app is not open, so long as your device is not muted and you allow notifications in the General Settings for Big Ben)
Pointless? Maybe. Decorative? Certainly.
NB Sounds will only play through earphones on 1st gen iPod Touch.
Thanks to all who left comments and suggestions for improvement. In particular to Dave, whose persistence finally motivated us to release this new version.

Big Ben FAQ
Is Big Ben free?
Big Ben is not free (it costs 0.99), however it doesn't contain in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Big Ben legit?
🤔 The Big Ben app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I'm a big fan of the Big Ben, so I really like this app. The sound of the chime is exactly the same as in real life. One little detail for improvement: The opening tunes of the famous chime should start before the actual hour has been reached. The 'boings' then should commence exactly on the hour. Therefore not 5 stars but 4. Nevertheless, nice work.
really really
horrible, especially when you've experienced the sounds up there... could be good fun though for London lovers outside London, so please give it another try!
Witte achtergrond
Excuses, bedacht me dat die wel goed getekend was, maar de witte achtergrond is te wit
Very nice, but one thing could be changed
I love this app, it works like the real thing, although the chimes could be changed, since the recording that’s being used are the chimes from a while back, I wish that the present day chimes, which after the revavation now have a softer sweeter sound: PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONCEDERATION
Very very good
It’s a very good app and it lets you see the famous big band and you can hear it stick duck sound tick-tock’s
Really wish they would have volume out of the app
I wasted $ .99 on something that does not even chime and you have to turn off and turn on the Westminster chime to make it chime, other wise it bring London the California.
great app!
i love this app! i rate it 4/5,because it just needs the renovated big ben, blue clock face, quieter chimes and a 5 second delay between the quarter chimes and the hour chimes.
Would be nice if it worked …
I installed this app just after iOS 15 was released, which knocked out an app, similar to this one, which I was using. When I installed this app, I discovered, to my chagrin, that it only worked when the app was displaying on the screen. If I went to another app, or if my screen locked, then Big Ben stopped working. Hoping there would be an update to the app, I didn’t delete it. The update came, approximately six months ago, but the same problems persist. I have Notifications turned on—including Sound—for the app, but it isn’t working. I’m running iOS 15.5. What’s the use of having an app that helps you keep track of time if it doesn’t operate in the background?
Very nice app
I honestly love the background chimes of big Ben. It keeps me on time. Would it be possible to make the ticking in the background as well?
Big Ben is a ripoff
After installing on iPhone 15.3.1 it won’t launch at all. Don’t waste your time or your money
