## Big North Description
Big North is a navigation app for wanderers of all kinds, from mountaineers to mariners and everyone in between.

Its focus is simple: BIG, easy-to-read compass letters for quick glances when you do not want clutter or tiny text.

— FIRST —
Large-font, color-coded compass headings
• Red for West (port)
• Green for East (starboard)
• White for northerly bearings
• Black for southerly ones

— SECOND —
[via watch screen swipe]
Altitude display in both meters and feet.

— THIRD —
[via another swipe]
Distance traveled in steps, kilometers, and miles.

Big North features an intuitive, easy-to-use interface with simple settings designed for real-world use, outdoors or anywhere your travels take you.

I have over half a century of wilderness and backcountry experience and have cycled, backpacked and guided the world from Sierra Leone to Nicaragua and beyond. My wish is for this app to inspire and assist travelers wherever they may roam.

Written first for Kim.

## Big North Reviews in United States

### ***** "Very nice"
Simple, elegant, and useful!
-- rlrhema, 2026-02-01

### ***** "Perfect"
This is exactly the watch app I have wanted. Whether walking in a city or hiking in nature, I like to keep track of direction. In the mountains, I want to know the altitude. Although my watch already had a compass and complications to display altitude and distance, this is the only one that I can read easily without putting on glasses. Each swipe of the screen provides a beautiful layout with large letters and numbers in bright coded colors. It is an app dedicated to the information I most want to see, with no clutter. Thank you for developing this app.
