2. Head out, head up.
3. Log your bird sightings - one at a time or multiple sightings as part of a birding session.
CITIZEN SCIENCE
Your bird sightings have a direct impact on helping conservation, so all that time in nature is good not only for you but also for the planet. Birda sends all of the sightings data it collects to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) so that scientists can use it to understand more about the world’s bird species and their habitats.
YOU CAN ALSO:
• Use AI to identify bird species in photos
• Find birding locations & the bird species that occur there
• Use the field guide to identify what you have seen with reference images and bird calls
• Set birding goals
• Get bird identification suggestions from the community
• Help the community as a bird identifier
• Unlock achievement badges

• See what birds other users have spotted
• Log sightings even when you’re offline
• Choose from multiple taxonomies (IOC, Clements & Birdlife HBW)
IMPORTS & EXPORTS
If you are coming from another platform, then there is no better way to get started than to import your records to Birda. We currently support imports from eBird, iNaturalist, Birdtrack and Birdlasser, with more coming soon. If you want to move your records to another platform, you are free to export all of your sightings from Birda.
LIFE LISTS
Birda automatically creates life lists of all the birds you've imported or recorded on Birda. Birda automatically generates sub-level lists based on time and geographic location. For example, you can see all your bird ticks for the last month or year and your home and patch lists (regions, countries, states/provinces & nature reserves coming soon!).
TAXONOMY
We understand that taxonomy can be complicated! This is especially true when people are trying to compare species across taxonomic authorities. For this reason, we built an industry-first solution to simplify taxonomy for our users. Our taxonomic engine makes taxonomy seamless, allowing users to view each other’s bird sightings in their taxonomy of choice, irrespective of what is being used by other users.
PRIVACY
You can choose to create a privacy zone around your address to hide the location of your garden sightings. Set up your home location, and Birda will also automatically create Home Lists and Patch lists for all the sightings you post within your Home and Patch boundaries. You have full control over what posts and GPS coordinates you share with others on Birda.

Great App, incredible support
I have been having so much fun with this app! The social aspect is great and I love that you can see sightings in your area (nearby). I recently had a bit of a login issue, but was quickly sorted out with the help of Sarah in support! She was an absolute gem and was patient and super helpful all the way! Highly recommend Birda for seasoned and novice birders!!

Hello John and Nat, Really special to have found this app. While I already do a lot on the full-protocol BirdLasser app, I can now enjoy social interaction with other birders, and see what they are seeing and doing! I especially enjoy interacting over the unidentified birds photographed and comments made by others. If there was one thing more I would like to have on this App, it would be a map of the positions of all birds sighted in a single challenge! Thank you for something special!
Perfect for Birders!
This app is the nest birding app I have ever downloaded. It is encouraging me to continue with my birding adventures and to get outside! I think younger people these days are constantly stuck to a screen so encouraging us to go into the wild and reconnect with nature is wonderful. If there was one thing I could choose to add however it would be to do with the bird calls. Adding more calls to the list of birds, maybe even a function where you can post that you heard a certain bird instead of seeing it. But I think the app is perfect for any birder as it is!!!
Best birding app out there!
The functionality, smoothness and overall feel of Birda are up there with the best social media apps today. On top of that there is no birding focused app that I have found that offers the same social interaction experience while still allowing serious birders to log and show their sightings. This app is for all people, whether you have been birding for 30 years or merely want to start today and I can’t wait to see where it goes in the future.
