## BirdNET Description
Hoe kunnen computers leren om vogels te herkennen aan de hand van geluiden? Het BirdNET-onderzoeksproject maakt gebruik van kunstmatige intelligentie en neurale netwerken om computers te trainen in het identificeren van meer dan 3.000 van de meest voorkomende soorten wereldwijd. U kunt een bestand opnemen met de microfoon van uw iOS-toestel en zien of BirdNET de waarschijnlijke vogelsoorten in uw opname correct identificeert. Leer de vogels om u heen kennen en help ons bij het verzamelen van waarnemingen door uw opnames in te sturen. 

BirdNET is een gezamenlijk project van het K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics van het Cornell Lab of Ornithology, en de Technische Universiteit van Chemnitz.

### ***-- "Gedetailleerde selectie lastig"
Mooie app, de ‘heat map’ van de opgenomen geluiden maakt het makkelijk om het geluid te vinden dat je nodig hebt. Erg leuk om vogels te kunnen identificeren, waar ook ter wereld; je locatie wordt automatisch aan de opname gekoppeld bij het opslaan, zodat terugzoeken makkelijker is.

Echter, het selecteren van een fragment is vrij lastig. Aanpassen van een huidige selectie (begin-/eindpunt verschuiven) kan niet, je moet dan de selectie helemaal opnieuw maken. Inzoomen om preciezer te selecteren kan ook niet.
Ook MOET je fragment minimaal 2 seconden lang zijn, anders wordt je selectie onmiddellijk weer ongedaan gemaakt (zonder melding waarom), ook al is het vogelgeluid zelf maar 1 seconde lang en zitten er vlak voor/na andere vogelgeluiden die je er juist niet in wil hebben om een betrouwbaardere analyse te krijgen.
Ruimte voor verbetering dus, de app heeft veel potentie!

Heb deze app al heel wat gebruikt. Heel leuk, handig en komt vrijwel altijd met het juiste vogeltje op de proppen. Helaas sinds deze week sluit de app na het openen direct weer af. Ik heb de app verwijderd en opnieuw gedownd maar mocht niet baten. Heeel jammer..

Ook na opnieuw laden lukt het niet om te zoeken op geluid. Telkens melding technische storing probeer het over enkele minuten opnieuw. Dat gaat al 2 dagen zo. Jammer was zo’n fijne app.

It works great and most of the time the suggested bird seems to be correct. However, the feedback form doesn’t work. Cancelling or Sending the feedback does nothing. I have to force close the app to record another sound because exiting the pop-up isn’t possible.

### ****- "Great app to help ID birds"
Since discovering the Birdnet app I use it almost every time I go birding to either record singing birds or help me ID sounds I cant place. I’ve learned a lot using this app!

I would rate it 5 stars if there were no faults in the operation of the app. If you record a sound offline in the field of multiple birds and analyze it later the suggestions cant scroll down. Also, I cant  correct any sounds if I know it to be a certain species.

Will not stop using this app due to these minor flaws. A great help nonetheless and would be perfect if these pointa were to be corrected!

First of all, this is a great app for identifying birds by their sound. 

One thing I am missing is being to able to fix an incorrect match. For example, I submitted the sound of a male Tawny owl (Strix aluco) and the app was unable to identify it and guessed it to be Homo sapiens. It would be great to either mark it as incorrect and/or suggest an alternative species. That would provide you with crowd sourced information to improve your AI model for better identification.

Another thing I noticed is that the app (or the back-end) is often struggling if the submitted sound are longer than about 2 seconds.

Echt een geweldige app. Zeer slim om het geluid visueel weer te geven waarin je precies kan selecteren wat je wilt analyseren. Ik heb er al leuke soorten door gezien en je leert geluiden beter kennen op deze manier. Voor mij een van de beste vogel-apps.
