Description

Born of the imagination of legendary keyboardist Jordan Rudess and the software engineering excellence of French audio developer BLEASS, SampleWiz 2 is a unique and powerful S&S (sample & synthesis) instrument. BLEASS SampleWiz 2 combines modern features such as granular and cloud sample engines, MPE, and iOS/desktop interoperability, with the satisfying, rapid workflow of classic hardware samplers.
Over a career spanning more than 40 years (and counting), Jordan Rudess has built a formidable reputation. His exquisite skills as a keyboardist have graced the recordings and tours of Dream Theater, David Bowie, Liquid Tension Experiment and Rod Morgenstein to name but a few. Jordan is also recognised as something of a savant in the world of sound design, and has collaborated over many years with synth manufacturers such as Korg, Moog and IK Multimedia. And as if that weren’t enough feathers for one cap, Jordan is a pioneer in the use of iOS in music creation and performance, and has worked on numerous groundbreaking music apps over the last decade, for example Geoshred and Morphwiz.
With SampleWiz 2, BLEASS has distilled the phenomenal breadth and depth of Jordan’s expertise and experience into an intuitive synthesizer that will unleash your sonic imagination, inspiring both your musical and sound design creativity.
With just a few swipes of your finger, or a couple of clicks of your mouse, you can easily capture any sound or import any sample – a few more swipes/clicks will transform your sound into a playable, characterful synth voice. And with full support for MPE Slide and Pressure, SampleWiz 2 allows you to create nuanced and deeply expressive performances.
With its unique iOS / desktop interoperability, BLEASS SampleWiz 2 fits in with your way of creating and performing too. You can capture and work on sounds whilst out-and-about using the iOS App or AUv3 plugin, then transfer your creation to your computer via AirPlay or iCloud where you can incorporate it into a bigger project. Conversely, you can take a favourite sound from your Windows or Mac computer and transfer it to your iPad or iPhone ready for use in a live performance, where you to take full advantage of the iOS version’s intuitive touch screen performance controls.
Creating original sounds with BLEASS SampleWiz 2 is as easy and fun as it is to load and play presets. The UI has been carefully designed to give a natural, intuitive workflow, with delightfully simple sampling or import of sounds, and a comprehensive suite of tools for chopping, granularizing, modulating, and adding effects to your sound designs.

I wish i could have given the cosmos for the rating! BLEASS You’ve blessed us , because you exist! Love you, a lot, a lot! For eternity!

Amazing

Just the best app with so much power. My only criticisms are that I’d like the save buttons to be taller so I don’t overwrite files instead of save as and I’d like to see the name of imported sample files in the deck

Flawed masterpiece

In general, I absolutely love this instrument. The problem I’m experiencing is that I bought the Imer6ia preset pack, but it won’t load. When I try to restore purchases, the app crashes.

Still can’t modulate sample end

E Shadowtron on

I was hopeful with the update saying it added more modulation destinations, but alas you are still not able to modulate the sample end knob. This seems like a basic feature on most sound design samplers. Emailed dev got no response

Awesome App After Getting Past some Issues

I had trouble getting started with this as an AUv3 plugin and ran into some glitches. At first my audio clips were not getting time stretched when pitch shifted, but got that working. The main issue now is that if I use the randomized button of this plugin inside of Loopy Pro after about 3 - 4 uses it breaks and Bleass stops out putting sound. The stand alone version of the app does not have this problem. UPDATE: After spending some days tinkering with this app I realized what gem I almost missed out on due to a bad first impression. I still run into little issues like with the randomize button, but this app is AMAZING for creating unique instruments instantly with my microphone. It’s awesome inside of Loopy Pro. I was able to set up a button in Loopy that records my mic input to BLEASS with the press of a button and it is immediately playable on my keyboard. Pitch shifting with time stretching DOES work for me now and it’s fantastic. So many features I didn’t realize I needed or wanted! I love this app!

Nothing else like it

Huntmannn on

I’ve been searching the App Store for a sampler on iOS that lets me sample my synth sounds created on my Mac DAW and this is it! Other samplers seem to just increase the sample rate to match pitch and it renders the sampler useless as an instrument, as it just plays back the sample slower of faster (even GarageBand for iOS AUSampler is guilty of this). The design is simple and yet compact. This is a very useful and needed app for my workflow on iOS. Great job to BLEASS and Jordan!

Did Samplewiz lose an engine?

Mic Gee$ on

Where is modern mode? I feel like Samplewiz and Samplewiz 2 sound different where modern mode is engaged on samplewiz? Now on samplewiz 2 granular is selected instead….and cloud definitely isn’t modern mode, it’s like moving grains mode (a new mode). So while it is an update to many things, it feels like a downgrade on the modern engine. All my modern Samplewiz instrument sound way different when I try to recreate them in the new version? Modern used Dirac is this still in the app? Curious.

Best IOS Sampler (When it loads…)

WSW.GTR on

I don’t like to write reviews that have issues that should be handled by tech support, but since they don’t answer those reliably then this is the only option. The IOS app stores user presets on iCloud and it appears there is no other option to store user presets locally. I had built up a library of 360+ user presets and it was causing the app to crash upon loading in AUM. The icon turns red and it forces me to reload, sometimes in the middle of a song and when it reloads it goes back to the default preset so I loose whatever work I did on the song. Also, the more I added user presets the more the response slowed - screen and preset lists became slower to refresh. It does not support folders so I removed most of the user presets and while it became more responsive it still occasionally will not load. I have a newer iPAD Pro (3rd Gen) purchased in Jan 2022 and a cable internet connection so I don’t think hardware is the issue. I did get a response on 8/24 when I first wrote about the sluggish response (reboot, check your internet connection, etc.) but have not heard from them when I emailed again on 9/6. This app is the easiest sampler I have used and I had tons of useful results with it. It would easily rank 4 stars if it were reliable and the dev would reliably respond to inquiries. Update: I never received any correspondence from the developer - and yes I check the spam folder daily. Nothing in the dev response made a difference - on my iPad this app has issues when a large number of user pressers are stored.

Love it!

The transitions are easier to manage and sampling has no phasing or regenerating side effects. Wish I had this when I was younger. Apps like this really have brought so much more to the table as a creator. Thank you so much BLEASE and of course Jordan Rudess ! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

Cool but a bit of bugs

Why my user samples disappear then reappear but just 2 of them? Also when I hit the sample wiz keyboard in Cubasis nothing records, I have to use Cubasis keyboard or one of my midi effects.
