BlindSquare sagt Ihnen, was sich in Ihrer Umgebung befindet. Sie müssen nur zuhören.

BlindSquare ist eine neue App, welche die neueste Technologie verwendet, um blinden Menschen im Alltag zu helfen. Sie wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit blinden Nutzern entwickelt und sorgfältigen Tests unterzogen. Für die Verwendung von BlindSquare benötigen Sie entweder ein iPhone oder ein iPad. Für eine bequemere Nutzung unterstützt BlindSquare außerdem weiteres Zubehör.

Wie funktioniert’s?

BlindSquare nutzt GPS und den Kompass, um Ihre Position zu bestimmen. Anschließend schlägt es Informationen über Ihre Umgebung auf FourSquare nach. BlindSquare entscheidet anhand einmaliger Algorithmen, welche Informationen für Sie relevant sind, und liest Ihnen diese dann mittels einer hochwertigen Sprachausgabe vor.
„Welches ist das beliebteste Café innerhalb von 200 Metern? Wo ist die Post oder die Bibliothek?“

BlindSquare als GPS-Lösung

Wenn Sie die App starten, werden Ihnen interessante Orte und die Straßenkreuzungen in Ihrer Umgebung angesagt. Wenn Sie den Radius ändern, können Sie die Größe des Gebietes, dass Sie interessiert, ändern. Außerdem können Sie nach Begriffen oder auch Kategorien suchen. Wählen Sie einen interessanten Ort aus den Suchergebnissen aus und führen Sie die folgenden Aktionen durch: 
1) Lassen Sie sich die Kontaktinformationen und die Telefonnummer anzeigen.
2) Lassen Sie sich den Twitter-Feed oder die Speisekarte anzeigen, falls die Informationen hinterlegt wurden.
3) Rufen Sie an.
4) Verfolgen Sie den Ort: BlindSquare wird Ihnen dann die Richtung und Entfernung ansagen.
5) Starten Sie Ihre bevorzugte App für eine Routennavigation.

BlindSquare merkt, wenn Sie im Zug, im Bus oder im Auto unterwegs sind und sagt Ihnen dann, welche interessanten Orte Sie passieren zum Beispiel die nächste Bushaltestelle oder Kreuzung. 

Sie können auch Ihre eigenen Orte in iCloud speichern, so dass Sie diese dann mit jedem Ihrer Geräte finden können.

BlindSquare und FourSquare

Wenn Sie FourSquare nutzen, bietet BlindSquare Ihnen die folgenden Funktionen:

1) Sehen Sie eine Liste der am nächsten gelegenen Orte auf FourSquare
2) Wenn Sie sich an einem Ort befinden, können Sie durch Schütteln Ihres Gerätes einchecken.
3) Teilen Sie Ihren Check-In auf Twitter und Facebook.
4) Speichern Sie die korrekte Standortinformation für diesen Ort ab.

BlindSquare unterstützt die folgenden Sprachen: Englisch, Arabisch, Bokmål, Norwegisch, Tschechisch, Dänisch, Niederländisch, Estnisch, Finnisch, Französisch, Deutsch, Griechisch, Ungarisch, Italienisch, Japanisch, Polnisch, Portugiesisch, Russisch, Spanisch, Schwedisch, Türkisch, Rumänisch. VoiceOver wird unterstützt, aber BlindSquare enthält außerdem zusätzliche hochwertigere Sprachausgaben, Acapela Text-To-Speech der Acapela Group.

Bitte beachten Sie, dass diese App Daten von FourSquare und Open Street Map in Echtzeit abruft. Daher wird dringend die Nutzung einer Datenflatrate empfohlen.

Die besonders hervorstechenden Merkmale dieser App sind: Die Schnittstelle zu Routenapps u die Datenübernahme aus "Wohin?", die Liste der Kreuzungen im Menü "Werkzeuge" und die diversen Funktionen in "Meine Orte", wie z. B. Die Koordinateneingabe von Hand sowie die Nachträgliche Korrektur des Standorts eines POIs per Taste und über "Koordinaten Bearbeiten". TOP App! Weiter so. Ein GPX Import wäre sehr wünschenswert.
