Blink Shell Reviews

Incredible!

Best App that provides UNIX-like terminal interface and visual studio code to develop everything. In the future, iPadOS will support external screen, then this app would be more powerful.

Great Apps for minimalism and good features

挖土机德林 on

United States

This terminal app is minimal but offers enough features that make terminal in iOS easier: 1. Arrow keys support 2. SSH host and key management 3. Nerd Font support (Really important!) I understand that a lot users are complaining on the subscription based purchase mode. But I completely understand it. In the end, the developers need to make an earning. So if you are coming from the old era where you bought it permanently, you are a lucky guy. But don’t rate the app with low stars just because the update for subscription only mode.

Great app especially for coding

Jeevan-2K on

United States

This is the only SSH app out of all the SSH clients in the App Store that supports proper font rendering necessary for VIM / Neovim. I can do all of my tmix / neovim development from this app on my iPad just like I’m at my computer. People complaining about a 20 per year subscription are ridiculous. The most downloaded ssh app on the App Store costs 6 times more *per year*. Recommended! Love that the source is available too.

Bait and Switch

Josh#$%^&*(I on

I purchased this app for $20 a few years ago and now it’s a subscription. They discontinued the old app and released a replacement with the new licensing. Absolutely unacceptable. I will not continue supporting this practice. AT NO POINT SHOULD AN SSH TERMINAL HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION LICENSE

My daily driver

I use it all the time when I am away from my dev rig. Works flawlessly. Best $$

I'm a 14 version buyer

I'm a 14 version buyer and forgot to upgrade... what should I do?

Great Tool, Scammy Billing

0sm0s1z on

United States

They overcharged me for Blink+Build for months while I explicitly tried not to purchase that. It’s the only mobile shell that I’ve ever fallen in love with. It’s good enough that I was willing to purchase. A subscription is absurd for something like this. Even then I was still willing. Scam me. Steal from me. I don’t care how good your stuff is. I’m out. Bye Felicia.

Great app to connect to my Linux desktop

WannabeUXConnoisseur on

United States

I tried a bunch of remote SSH or Mosh apps but Blink is my absolute favorite. I sometimes want to do a bit of development work on my iPad. I'm impressed with Blink. It supports a full 24-bit color terminal and my Emacs displays just like the display on X. I also like the fact that SSH private keys can be stored on the Secure Enclave for better security. I originally thought it weird that it immediately started as a pseudo shell on the iPad from which you launch ssh or mosh or config, but I've grown to really like that approach.

Has potential

idielots on

United States

Looks great but the improperly implemented ssh certificates makes this app a no go for me. I’d pay the $20/yr happily if it actually worked. Client certs aren’t enough. This also has to allow trusted cert-authorities for signed host keys

Only a wrap of Web VSCode

btjack99 on

United States

The embedded VSCode is just a copy of the official Web VS Code, so it cannot connect to a remote server via SSH inside VSCode at all. So it is, of course, unable to install any code completion plugin in VSCode, no C++, no Python and even no JavaScipt. As a result, the VSCode is just a partially-functioning editor with a good theme. Nothing more.
