I think this app is an amazing idea but not being able to lock the things you block makes it pretty pointless. I mean if you already can’t hold yourself to not going on an app or website, what’s stopping you from just turning off the group? Technology addiction is so damaging and it’s so selfish of ever person who’s worked on and supported this app to monetize that addiction. It’s a good idea, and I understand production costs completely, but why can’t a basic feature of being able to lock the group be free? All I want is to block a website permanently.

After seeing my weekly screen time report, I was quite shocked. Because of this, I installed BlockSite and purchased the “premium” subscription, even though it offers stuff you can do for free on other screen time apps like Opal. After a measly two days of using this, I cancelled my subscription because you can easily disable the blocks. The following month, I checked my credit card statements and saw that I was still being charged! I cancelled my subscription and disabled the VPN, so this app couldn’t have done anything, right? WRONG! I had to cancel my credit card to stop any further payments from happening, which threw a wrench into my week. I then installed Opal, which has everything BlockSite’s “premium” subscription can do and more for absolutely nothing! If you’re looking for an app to reduce your screen time, don’t waste your time or money on this scam. Just get Opal.

BlockSight is, without a doubt, the worst app I’ve ever used. It doesn’t work—at all. I’ve had it on my phone, iPad, and iPad Mini for nearly a year, and it has never successfully blocked a single app or website. The app congratulates you for blocking things, but nothing is actually restricted—you can access everything as if the app isn’t even there.

For something that does absolutely nothing, it’s not worth even a dollar. There are far better options out there. Save your money. 1 star.
