Get better techs!
I have been using them since they first came to New Orleans (out of necessity), but this is the legitimate worse bike sharing app I’ve ever used in my life across the entire United States. I am saving up extra hard to get a car because of these people and their unreliability and poor service and poor customer service.
Whenever the bike people replace the batteries they don’t put them in properly. That means in the app, the bike will show as having 100% battery and then when you go through the app to unlock it, you end up pedaling 10 times harder than on a regular bike because the assistive pedaling won’t be activated.
Find a way to check these bikes because I have almost been late to works because I thought a bike was there and with 100% battery but in actuality it’s a dud.
Also, something must be wrong with their GPS system because whenever I go to where the app says there is a bike, half the time there’s no bike at all.
Another issue is how long it takes to unlock and relock. They have the clock running from the moment it unlocks, but these people waste so much of your time in the app that by the time you’ve unlocked and relocked the bike, you’ve wasted 5 minutes that they’re charging you for.
Yet another issue is their customer service. Extremely rude and rarely helpful.
Finicky
Docking station doesn’t always unlock the bike. Can’t trust that it will work properly and you get stuck with a charge you need to dispute.
Faulty from start to finish
Slow and clunky UI in app. Bikes have a ~50% chance of not unlocking, not working, or causing users to have to reset their Bluetooth (horribly inconvenient UX). Heavens forbid the bike’s motor gives out mid trip, you’ll be in for the workout of your life. Although customer service is quick to respond the quality of service leaves much to be desired. Cheaper than Uber but I would quickly switch to an alternative company if one was available in my city.
bike didn’t work
electrical didn’t work. had to peddle bike the entire time . waste of money
So useful!
Love that this community project exists!
Unreliable
There are many menus where you can’t go back so you can’t finish unlocking or locking the bike, you have to close it and start again every time. The App is never updated or improved.
Clear instructions
Great self explanatory app and directs you
About how to ride, lock unlock the blue bikes. Essential for traveling to New Orleans
Worst bike share system we’ve ever used.
We have used bine share systems in NYC for more than 10 years and used various systems throughout the country and the world. This is by far the worst app and system that we’ve ever used. It is very hard to see where you are in the app. The app makes you scroll through these various rules every time you use it. When you’re done, you have to submit a photo and all of this is while you’re still being charged, eating up your minutes. The locking and unlocking is very temperamental. Numerous times the bike did not unlock or lock and we were being charge minutes the whole time. It takes awhile for it to finally reset. The customer service email is very lacking and unsympathetic. The bikes themselves need to be better maintained. Several times we experience bikes with brakes that were lacking and dangerous. The bikes actually go too fast when you’re not peddling, so you always have to break in crowded areas. They also need better shock absorption for the bumpy French Quarter roads. Another frustrating app feature is when you try to submit text feedback in the app, the submit button disappears once you start typing comments. We finally figured out you had to change the review to a different star level and then back in order for the submit button to reappear. We love to bike and wish there was a better option than this in New Orleans as it really negatively affected our experience there.
Watch out
These things are deadly. Emergency stopping is not gonna happen and it takes bumps horribly.
