App is garbage, needs rework
Honestly I’m sick of this app. And blue and ADT haven’t done anything to fix the bugs that are o going for years. The bug fixes they talk about are just for show. I’ve been using the service since 2020 and I can say this is easily the worst experience. Between bad cameras, bad app connection, bad configurations, bad loading times, at this point I basically have the system for looks and decoration. Seriously, I pay X amount of money a month for poor accessibility ? No thanks. Cameras don’t pick up everything , low range, low quality, poor motion sensors, cannot differentiate between a person and a car, poor battery life, and they don’t sell the batteries unless you request a whole camera. At the end of the day, if they took notice of reviews and worked on them there would be better reviews but I’ll be switching to another company. Please remember, most 4-5 star reviews are fake , they’re paid for unless there’s a legit review in detail.
App needs more functionality, easier UI
App does the basic job. Easy to pair and walk through device set up.
App+devices don’t take up too much bandwidth which is great
On to the cons:
I really hate that every time I need to do some deeper setting changes that I could normally do with other apps like with my WiFi/bank, this makes me have to log in on web:
- ex. I couldn’t add my wife to notification set up for alarms, etc. why only let me add users and their rights without being able to manipulate actual detailed/important setttings
for safety?
Even on the web, I was trying to change the notification timing for when I get a message if my alarm trips. Last night it went off and I didn’t get a notification until 5 minutes AFTER I ALREADY DISARMED IT. The menus for notification settings had 7 steps and the 7th step was to change timing but every time at step 6 it would skip it and only give me an option to just save my settings. So not only is there not full functionality in the app but web you force us to use doesn’t fully work.
It’s also a very strangely set up in terms of navigating back and forth between menus:
- Sometimes I have to close the whole app to go back a screen.
- touch interaction is awkward. Sometimes you have to press icons, sometimes you press the words
My biggest issue is being randomly force logged out at the worst time. Setting up devices, trying to arm or disarm, editing security settings. Or going to check a camera because I heard something and app says “log in failed” please enter your crensentials. Just about anything I’ve tried to do in the app I’ve been forced logged out at least once (yes my app is fully patched).
Overall, the app does the job but painfully so in most scenarios on the day to day. App should be quick and easy to use given that it could be life/death situations.
For all the money you all charge us and ways you lock people into your services, you should prioritize easy customer interactions with your products
Bad service
My camera is supposed to be face recognition, we then how is someone getting pas my camera. This person know how to block the internet. And she comes in n and destroys my belongings. I am not happy with ADT. There is to be a back up? The how is this person Getty by my camera?

The security system basically works, but the app has not been improved in years. One of my authorized users has gotten married and changed their name (come on, developers, this is a common occurrence in the world). Why can’t I edit the last name? Even if I delete and re-add them, the old name returns (probably because their email address is the same, and the developer did not have the foresight or creativity to choose a unique database key). This is so shortsighted. And why continue to present the 2FA nag screen, when the sign-up process does not work? Please hire a world-class UX team, and do some work on this app that many of us pay for and have to use every day.

This system base hub always says not connected to the internet. Then when you try to reconnect it, it takes forever. It goes out often,
Unreliable- Can’t Trust During Emergency
iOS 17.4.1 - here are the following bugs that have not been addressed in the 3 years I’ve used this app.
-Set alarm page set on “initializing” forever. You can’t turn on or off your alarm. Shutting down app and reopening fixes this.
-Opening app for normal use post authentication takes you to login page. Closing and reopening app bypasses login page.
-Live video feed stuck on buffering for long periods of time. Some days it never works.
-App does nothing when entering PIN (alarm/devices page). Closing and reopening app fixes this.
-Inaccurate “history” of events. Missing so many events that happened like door/windows opening, camera motion.
Once my contract is up I will be leaving ADT for another company solely bc of how bad this app is. Can’t trust it to work when I need it.
