Blue Iris FAQ
Is Blue Iris free?
Blue Iris is not free (it costs 34.90), however it doesn't contain in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Blue Iris legit?
🤔 The Blue Iris app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Been using it for 2 days now. Get it set up and works fine, in about an hour or so, it cant connect. Wifi and cellular service is strong.
Have to jump thru the hoops of adding a new server. It then works again for an hour or so then disconnects again.
Right now…. Not worth the $9.99
Flawless!
This app, in conjunction with Blue Iris NVR software, makes for a flawless surveillance system! I’ve experimented with numerous surveillance systems and have found better—or for that matter—anything even close!
And btw, the Android version of this app is equally robust, stable and, again, flawless.
Push notifications require subscription
Push notifications only work if you have purchased the desktop app AND have an extended support subscription.
The Ideal Match for Blue Iris Enthusiasts!
Blue Iris has been an absolute game-changer in surveillance! Needless to say this app’s design makes monitoring my property simple, yet offering crystal clear live feeds directly to my phone and iPad. The customization options in this app are user-friendly, allowing me to finangle the settings exactly how I want. Definitely deserves a five-star rating!
Make sure you understand what you’re doing
This app’s output is only as good as the input. It works wonderfully for me.
Not worth the price
App doesn’t follow general iOS design guidelines, often doesn’t select correct clip and it costs too much money for what my toddler can do better with.
Using for 1 year plus, Excellent!
I have a small sever running Ryzen 5700G, 2tb M2, 16gb RAM…etc for Blue Iris. I also have about 6 cameras connected in different fashion (POE, WiFI, USB). No issues at all from this application. It is lightweight, not tons of features which is fine, it just works. I send “critical” updates to my phone when a person is detected in the AI of the server, that works fine. Solid app.
Very reliable
This app is so reliable and consistent. My only thing I wish it had was picture-in-picture support. It has background audio but not video when you leave the app.
Something broke in the last update
The app shows several cameras in red like there are dead, however once you click on them they work, very annoying…
Misleading
You need to buy their support plan so as to upgrade blue iris desktop app to the latest otherwise iphone notification would not work. It seems they use cert which gets updated every couple of months. They have not mentioned it anywhere in the app description!
